Research Inquiry
Recently I spent time gathering information about the Aryan race ideology
and the life of Hitler. The Aryan race has always fascinated me so that why chose to
research it and learn more about it. I also wanted to learn more about Hitler because
I recently read a book called Mein Kampf. It did not go into as much detail about
Hitler as I wanted. So I thought researching it would be a great way to further my
knowledge of him.
The word Aryan was not a word created by the Germans to describe a
superior race of people. An article I read recently talked about this when it
mentioned, Aryan peoples grew to power and enterprise and subjugated the
whole Ancient World(Wells 1992). This showed me that the German leaders stole
that word. The word Aryan was used by the Germans to relate what they are
striving to be as a nation. They wanted to do what the past Aryan civilization did and
conquer.
Learning about this first was key in my understanding of Aryan ideology. To
me learning about the origins is key in understanding. Learning about where the
word came from is important to allow me to have a better understanding of why
that word was used and what it meant. The origin of the word surprised me because
I thought Hitler had made up the word.

I wanted to learn more about Aryans. A question that kept coming up in my

research was what the Aryans thought of the Jewish people. It was my belief that
Hitler caused the hatred of Jewish people. I decided to try and understand the
Aryans view on Jewish people as a whole.
The aspect I looked at is Aryan view on Jewish people. In the article I read, it
mentions what Aryans thought of Jewish people by stating, to Aryan brethren,
Jews are the symbolic embodiment of everything evil and corrupt.(Brodie 1998)
The way Aryan people view Jewish people was actually surprising. I had thought the
hatred of Jewish people to be spawned by Hitler. The hatred of Jewish people was
not caused by only by Hitler. There was a growing hatred brewing in the world.
After inquiring this much about Aryans I decided to reflect on it. I decided
that the knowledge I was gaining from my research so far was not what I wanted to
learn about entirely. I wanted to learn about the Aryans, but I now feel that learning
about Hitler is more important. I had decided to do research on Hitler and his
relation to the horrible events occurring during his time, such as the holocaust and
possibly even his relation to the Aryans.
According to written history, Hitler never ordered the Jewish people to
executed. In such logic he did not start the Holocaust. However many believe this to
be a lie. Although there is no written proof, many believe he still did cause it though.
The article I read shows this to be true when it mentions, Hitler was proud of his
achievement in killing the Jews(Kern 1985). The idea that Hitler caused the advent

of such a horrible event is hard to belief. When it comes down to it, it is a personal
choice. I believe him to be the cause.
When I learned that there was no written proof of Hitlers involvement in the
Holocaust I was very surprised. I always thought that Hitler caused the Holocaust no
questions asked. It was in learning this that forced me to put my own input in. I
choose to belief him to be the cause. He could have verbally been active in the
Holocaust. I believe that just because it was not written does not mean it did not
occur.
I then decided to do more inquiry into what Hitlers childhood was like. The
reason for this is because the previous inquiry I did relating to Hitlers involvement
in horrible events such as the holocaust. I wanted to get a better understanding of
Hitler as a person. I thought the best way to do this was to inquire about his past.
Past events generally shape peoples futures and present.
Hitler did not always dislike Jewish people. In his youth he was highly
affected by Vienna. In the article I read it proved Hitler was affected by Vienna when
it mentioned, Hitler contended that Vienna fueled and focused his anti-Semitic
vision(Roth 1999). In his youth Vienna had really molded Hitler into a anti-Semitic
person. He would go on to later write a book called Mein Kampf. This book is a great
read and provided me with an understanding of Hitlers views.
This was the first I had heard of why Hitler was anti-Semitic. I always
assumed he disliked Jewish people because they did not accept him into one of there
schools. It makes more sense that people had swayed him into such a horrible
person. It is crazy to think how much people can be affected by others actions,

especially at a young age. I now have a better understanding of Hitler and what
caused him to have possibly been part of such horrible events.
This research inquiry paper has given me a real good understanding of Hitler
and the Aryan race. In my class people seem to be more focused on the effects of the
holocaust. I however am more fascinated with causes and the people behind it. I also
find the reasons for that event to be very interesting. The Aryan race and Hitler are
supposedly very touchy subjects. People automatically assume both to be evil and
wrong. I prefer to learn everything about both before making a decision. I hate when
people just assume things. All evidence against them, I still want to learn more. I do
not believe anything to be wrong until I have a complete understanding. That is why
I wrote this paper. I am not going to make a decision as to whether Hitler and the
Aryan race were bad things until I completely understand them. As for right now I
do not understand them enough, so I cannot really say they are or not. I had hoped
to gain enough knowledge to make an informed decision. I can say that I am leaning
towards the idea that Hitler is a horrible person.
