Research: Use text and web resources provided in class to get started. Focus on the role of cell
transport and what happens when cell transport is disrupted. There is a lot of information out there with
huge amounts of detail so focus on the basics that relate to what we have learned in class.
Don't get lost in the internet! Ask for help if you're having trouble finding useful information and use
your time wisely.
Report Findings: Using the format below, create a brochure to inform the public about the
importance of cell membrane transport in their bodies. Make the brochure easy and fun to read by
including information that is easy to read, pictures, graphics, quotes or anything else that will help you
get your message across. Your brochure can be typed or hand written.
Your brochure needs to include:
An introduction to your topic what is it? Why is it important?
A description of the cell membrane transport that is occurring what is being transported? Is it
active or passive?
What happens if/when this transport is disrupted? What health problems occur? What is
disrupting that transport?
Conclusion connect the role of cell membrane transport with how our body maintains
homeostasis.

Standard:
CO state science standard 2.1: Cells use passive and active transport of substances across membranes to
maintain relatively stable intracellular environments.
Objectives:
Students will be able to describe the terms diffusion, osmosis, and equilibrium, and how they relate to a
concentration gradient.
Students will be able to describe passive transport through the cell membrane and give examples of
molecules that are moved with facilitated diffusion.
Students will be able to give examples of different types of active transport.
Students will be able explain how large macromolecules are transported into and out of the cell using
vesicles.
