Introduction
Time
Today we are going to play a game called gold rush! While I
set the game up, lets do our relay warm up.

gym doing the movement you request. Ex. 1) run 2) high
knees 3) kick your butt 4) cross overs 5) bear crawl
5 min
there and crab walk back
Set up the equipment while studies are occupied with
the relay
Remember to give the teams the next movement
throughout the relay
Student ability to complete the familiar warm up as done in
previous classes. (Students already know their warm-up
groups).

Learning:

Students will participate in the activity

Students will use sportsmanship
1) Warm up
2) Instructions
3) Gold Rush
4) Heart and Hustle award
Now that we are all warmed up, listen closely to the rules of
the game.
1) I will split the class into two teams. Each teams home is
on a different half of the gym.
2) Each team has 9 pieces of gold (the beanbags) held in
their treasure boxes (hoola hoops). 3 bags per hoop.
3) The goal of the game is to collect as much gold as you
by stealing it from the other team. Once a team has
collected all the gold in their treasure boxes then the
game is over.
4) However, when you run across the centerline to the
other teams side to steal their gold, they can tag you,
and if you get tagged than you have to go to their jail.
Show the students where the jail is.
5) You can be tagged at anytime you when you are on the
other teams side, whether you have already grabbed a
beanbag or not, but you are safe if you are inside a
hoola hoop! You can only stay inside a hoola hoop for
five seconds.
6) If you get tagged while trying to run back to your side
with a beanbag, please put it back and then go to jail.
7) There is no guarding the hoola hoops or the jail. Players
need to be at least five large steps away to give the
other team a chance.
8) To get out of jail, a team member has to rescue you
without getting caught on their way there; otherwise
they will be in jail too. The team member must reach
you safely by touching your extended arm out of the jail,
and then you can travel safely back to the other side.
You cannot be tagged if you are on your way back with
another person. You can only be tagged on your way to
rescue them.
9) If I call jailbreak, then anyone who is in jail can run
home to his or her side.
* Answer any additional questions.
Body
Split the teams into two and give one pinnies.
Get them to line up by their hoola hoops and then start the
game. Ready, go!
The teacher can call Jail break! to release the students
that have been imprisoned for too long, so they can
participate in the game again.
The teacher will observe the students to ensure the
game is being played properly.
The teacher will provide and clarification needed
throughout the game.
Closure
The teacher will stop the game with five minutes until the bell
and have students collect the hoops and beanbags to be put
away. The teacher will request three students to clean up
items.

The teacher will evaluate the effort and sportsmanship
demonstrated by each student during the game.
Once the students have lined up at the door, the teacher will
give the Heart and Hustle medal to the student that they
thought stood out during the activity. The teacher will
compliment the other students for their efforts as well.
The teacher will lead the students back to the classroom
quietly and have them get ready to go home for the day. They
will collect their agendas and put them in their bags.
