Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact

Rationale/Reflection
InTASC/NAEYC Standard:
Standard 2:
The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities
to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable each learner to meet high standards.

Brief Description of Evidence:


As part of my Education 230 Exceptional Child course, during the fall semester of 2014, I
created a service learning project. The project focused on creating work that was easily
understandable and compatible for a hotel ran by adults with special needs. My group had to
place job titles, job descriptions, and salaries into a well-documented file so that it could be used
when the hotel is finished.

Analysis of What I Learned:


I gained knowledge from this assignment by stretching my understanding of individual
differences. I learned that there were specific objectives I needed to reach in order for this
assignment to be successful. I had to research the web for information, which was not easily
found and had to brainstorm over how the presentation would best fit everyone involved.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC Standard:


My competence in this standard is proven by my ability to network with others to create a Prezi
that was compatible to the specific needs of others. I provided voice recognition, along with a
text form of the presentation. Each specific professional was made as descriptive as possible and
the document can be easily accessed by local community members.
