Framing of ADSL data

• Framing of ADSL data

• The data of the ADSL is organized into FRAMES and
SUPERFRAMES
• One SF is built of 68 ADSL Frames and one Sync Frame
• The Sync Frame is used to provide SF sync, identification
of START of The SF
ADSL Super Frame structure

Solutions to the problems that influence data rates in ADSL

• As ADSL lines can vary and are

Asymmetrical, frame sizes may also vary
• Thus there is no absolute frame sizes for the
SF.
• Each SF must be sent every 17 ms and
each frame must be sent every 250
microseconds
ADSL Frame Contents

• Each Frame contains:

• Fast Byte– used for special SF – related
processing Functions
• Fast Data– to TX time sensitive info, it can vary in
length
• FEC .. Used to ensure accuracy of FAST DATA
• Interleaved Data.. User data Tx by ADSL or
Internet data, it can vary in length
