Course Description:
Students who complete this course will be proficient in the standards
assigned by this course from the CCSS and the College and Career Readiness
established by ACT.
During the course of this class students will be covering half of the Algebra 2
course required for graduation in the State of Michigan. The topics covered
will include: Investigations and Functions, Transformations of Parent Graphs,
Equivalent forms of Expressions and Functions, and Solving Equations and
Inequalities for Intersections.
Students will be participating in this class in an online environment requiring
both group participation and individual work. Students will be expected to

participate on group assignments, collaborating through an online discussion

forum, but work will be posted to a group wiki, including initialed
contribution.
Resource Requirement:
1. All students will be expected to have access to a TI-84 calculator for
group and individual work, although other technology may be used for
completion of assignments, all tests and quizzes will be limited to the
use of the TI-84 calculator.
2. All students must have access to a computer with a web camera,
microphone, MS-Office or similar program, and access to high-speed
Internet.
3. Textbook: Core Connections Algebra Two 2nd edition. Online access
granted by coded login. CPM Algebra 2A Textbook
Textbook Information:
The Core Connections textbook is completely online. All group and individual
assignments from the text are in this book. The textbook provides all
manipulatives, resources, and work support for students as they complete
their work. Any additional resources will be posted for easy access.
Student Responsibilities and Expectations:
Students will participate in a professional manor, observing appropriate
internet behavior compliant with Grayling High Schools code of conduct. All
assignments will be completed and submitted by the posted due date. Each
day late will result in a 10% deduction.
Online classes require a great deal of self-motivation. Students are expected

to check their email daily to maintain the most recent information from the
class. It is essential to be involved in all discussions and notify the instructor
of any issues that arise.
Quizzes will be given online. Each chapter test will be taken in my classroom
on the Friday of the week of tests. Attendance for tests is required, and
contributions toward group wiki will represent attendance for the class.
Online Office Hours:
The instructor will check his email daily. He will be available online for
questions Monday-Friday from 3-4:00 pm, or by appointment as needed. He
can be contacted by email, phone, or Google chat during those times
