PERMANENT MISSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA
To THE UNITED NATIONS:
no. 623 | 14
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nations presents its
‘compliments to the Permanent Missions and Permanent Observer Missions to the United
Nations and has the honour to inform that the Government of the Republic of Kenya
welcomes the decision of the Trial Chamber V (8) Number ICC-01/09-02/11 dated 3°
December 2014 in the case, the Prosecutor v. Uhuru Kenyatta and appreciates that this
decision facilitated, in a legal and transparent manner, the subsequent action by the
Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to withdraw the charges against Uhuru
Kenyatta,
{It is however with regret that the tone and tenor of the Statement by the Prosecutor
‘upon withdrawing the case remains prejudicial to the person of the defendant and casts,
aspersions on the Government of the Republic of Kenya. Kenya regrets the lack of dignity
and humility in that statement.
‘The Government of Kenya in appreciating the withdrawal ofthe charges, further calls on
the expeditious conclusion of the case against the Deputy President as this would go a
long way in faciitating normalcy in our country and securing our democracy and long
term peace and security.
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nations avails itself of this
‘opportunity to renew to the Permanent Missions and Permanent Observer Missions to the
Unt Natns the assurances of Highest sprain,
Permanent Missions and
Permanent Observer Missions to
