Many individuals are now choosing Physician Assistant school as an
alternative to medical school. For those who do not want to consume their lives with four years of medical school and then residency after already completing an undergraduate degree, PA school offers a nice alternative. Since PA schools are only two years long, this is also a smart alternative to the of debt one would incur in medical school. The need for PAs has increased over the years and will continue to do so. This is due to the lower costs of hiring PAs, with almost the same qualifications as a medical doctor. With the increased need for PAs, schools are finding it harder to accommodate applicants. Therefore; PA schools are becoming stricter on acceptance guidelines. Most PA schools require 1,000 hours or more of hands on clinical experience, a 2.5 or higher science GPA and a bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Applicants must also obtain letters of recommendation, as well as accumulate volunteer hours.
