Description:

Kherwadi Social Welfare Association (KSWA) has been working for the slum-dwellers
of Kherwadi, Bandra (E) for the last 81 years. Through a movement started by KSWA
– Yuva Parivartan – we provide vocational training to underprivileged youth through
6 centres (Thane, Bhiwandi(2), Kalyan, Wada, Vasai) in and around Thane and in the
Mumbai prisons. We also, work with the Mumbai police to counsel and guide the
First Time Offenders and rehabilitate them. The main aim of the movement is to
assist these youth towards economic independence. As a part of the same project,
we wish to organise a Career Fair to provide employment opportunities and
counselling on career choices to the less-educated, underprivileged youth.

Kherwadi Social Welfare Association (KSWA) was founded in 1928 by a group of
social workers led by the late Shri B.G. Kher (the first premier of Maharashtra &
Gujarat) and Yuva Parivartan is a movement started by KSWA. Yuva Parivartan was
formally launched in 2003 by the President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to provide
unmotivated school dropouts of 16 yr- 25yr. age a second chance through short
term vocational training and placement assistance. Yuva Parivartan has evolved into
the most significant achievement of KSWA and focuses on two main areas,
vocational training and community engagement. Yuva Parivartan operates at 30
centers across India and at 5 jails in Maharashtra. YP has been successful in
developing a working, integrated and replicable model in empowering deprived
dropouts and youth to earn a livelihood and become useful citizens. With this Career
Fair, we wish to provide employment opportunities and counselling on career
choices to the less-educated, underprivileged youth.

About Sponsorship:
