Statistics has taught me that not all math is the same nor does it mean that you will

do well
regardless if youre actually good at other mathematics. It has also taught me the importance of
having a good group, one that will be supportive as well as let you support them. Without a
good team behind you (in anything) it makes things difficult to get done whether or not you
want to do things with a group or not.
The mathematics and statistics skills I applied would include, but are not limited to: using
StatCrunch, using formulas applicable to statistics (possibly other math as well), and using
critical thinking. All of these can help me in my everyday life. StatCrunch is an easier version of
excel, which ultimately helped me understand excel somewhat better and who doesnt need
excel nowadays? Formulas are important for anything and depending on what youre doing;
these specific formulas can be extremely helpful. Critical thinking is just a given and is needed in
any decision making whatsoever or homework in the future.
Specific parts that I can think of that could possibly relate to future classes would be the survey
part of it. Im taking a communications class next semester and may need to do a survey or
even for a business class. Surveys can be extremely helpful in any situation needing information
on consumers.
This project helped me develop my problem solving skills not only on the math side, but also
trying to work with others. Im more of a singular worker and working with a team forced me to
cooperate and think together with others. This project also changed the way I think about real
world statistics applications by showing me that you can literally have statistics in anything you
do.

2. My observations of the data tell me that there are no trends in the data. Most of them all
correspond with the other and my data matches up in average to the rest of them. The graphs
definitely reflect what I expected to see because most of the data is repetitive and there are no
huge outliers. Just by looking at the data I assumed the graphs would turn out the way they did.

The purpose of a confidence interval is to give us a range of numbers four our estimated
parameter instead of giving us just one singular number or point estimate. Confidence intervals
give us a range of numbers, that we believe (within different degrees of confidence) that the
true population falls within it. For example, We are 99% confident that the true interval from
43% to 77% captures the true percentage of dogs eating peanut butter when given the
opportunity.

Hypothesis testing uses sample data in an inferential procedure to evaluate credibility of
a hypothesis of a population. The main purpose of hypothesis testing is to choose between two
competing hypothesis about the value of a population parameter. For example: One hypothesis
might claim that men are taller than woman, but the alternative may claim that men and
women are equal in height.

4.
The samples meet the requirements by A) Being obtained from a simple random
sample, B) np is greater or equal to 5, C) n(1-p) is greater or equal to 5, and D) the population
size is at least ten times the sample size (n).
5.
There is sufficient evidence that the alpha level of significance to support the claim that
20% of all Skittles candies are red. There is sufficient evidence that the alpha level of
significance to support the claim that the mean number of candies in a bag of skittles is 55.
