*The children came inside around 3:15 and as soon as they came inside Ms. Kelly got
out the trucks, cars, buses, and a big rug that has roads, businesses, etc on it.
Gross & Fine Motor Skills:
Scribbles vigorously:
o None of the children colored during this hour
Jumps in place:
o Cooper was excited about the car mat so he jumped up and down when
Ms. Kelly was putting it out.
Walks on tiptoes:
o Emma walked on her tip-toes a little bit today.
Place one 2 block on another 2 block
o There was no block play today
Scribbles with large crayon on a large piece of paper:
o There was no coloring/drawing today
Turns 2-3 pages in a large book while sitting in adults lap:
o A child didnt read any book, instead, Ms. Kelly read a large book in front
of the class.
Holds pencil and makes marks on sheet of paper
o There was no coloring/drawing during this hour.
Builds a 4 block tower with 2 cube blocks
o There were no blocks.
Additional Comments:
o After the children came in from outside (it was too chilly) the teacher read
a large book in front of the class and after that the kids were just allowed
to have free time and play with whatever they wanted in the toy
corner.

o The children were playing house and pretending to be in different

o All of the kids can speak a word.

o All of the kids can combine two words.

o When the boys were playing with the cars and trucks I noticed Cooper
putting the cars together and the trucks together. Almost as if it was a sort
of OCD. Ive seen my 6 year old brother do that before; when he plays
with vehicles he arranges them in the kind of vehicles they are.
Takes turn in games:
o Other than make-belief play I didnt notice taking turns in games.

o All of the kids except for Cooper can express how they are feeling whether
its with one word or a sentence.

o Emma and Dakota play together most of the time. When the toddler boys
get to play with the Preschool children the boys always seem to gravitate
towards each other regardless of the age.
Complies with simple directions:
o Dakota is really good about being quiet and listening when the teacher is
reading the book.
Shows gender-stereotyped toy choices:
o When the trucks and cars were introduced all of the kids played with
them, even the girls.
Displays self-control:
o Dakota again, is good at self-control and was very good and quiet during
the book reading.
