Reading Vocabulary

Captions

Titles

Titles are the first big words on the top that tell
its story.

Example: I can see the Title on top of the book.

Captions are the words that represent the

pictures.

Example: Captions like to show the pictures.

Reading Vocabulary

Subheadings

Headings

Headings are the words that are similar to

Titles, but smaller.

Example: Is that a Heading, or a Title?

Subheadings are similar to Headings, but

smaller.

Example: Whats the difference between Headings and

Subheadings?

Lets quiz ourselves

1. What are Titles?

2. Whats the difference between Headings and Subheadings?

3. Whats another skill in Reading?

Answers

1. Titles are the first big words on the top that tell its story.

2. Headings are similar to Titles, but smaller, and Subheadings are Titles that are smaller than Headings.
3. Writing is another skill of Reading.

Math

Math is one of the ancient skills at the beginning.

It has fractions, percents, addition, subtraction, equations, and more!

Fun fact: Most of the population of the Earth love doing math.

Math

Adding and subtracting are one of the most

basic skills, which first started the calendar.
Multiplying and dividing have opposite
relationships, like adding and subtracting, and
are similar to adding and subtracting.

Example: If one plus one equals two, and two minus

one is one, than what is two times two?
Answer: It is four, like two plus two [which is the one
multiplication problem that is the same to
addition.], and four divided by two is two.

Multiplication and division have their purposes,

but are not usually that easy to solve.

Fractions
Fractions mean to divide, and created the method
Keep it, Flip it, Switch it.
Example: 3/8 = 0.375

Percents
Percents mean out of 100, are similar to fractions.

Two-step equations
Two step equations are similar to other problems, but
have a special way to solve problems.
Example: 2 + x + 4 = 8
-4 -4
2+x=4
+2 +2
x=2

Math

The mean is adding all the numbers together, then dividing it by how many numbers there were.

The median is putting the numbers in order, then see which number is in the middle, or finding what the
number is between,, and find the mean of them.

The mode is how many times a number is. There could be one mode, or more.

The range is putting the numbers in order, then minus the number that is from the front and the back.

All of these skills will help you in math.

Lets quiz ourselves

1. Name three of the skills in math.

2. What are percents?

3. True or false: People HATE doing math.

Answers

1. Fractions, percents, addition, subtraction, and/or equations.

2. Percents are similar to fractions, and also mean out of 100.

3. Mostly false, but also true.

Science

In science, people study all about the Earth and living things.

Also, there are a lot of things that they study, like cancer, DNA, meiosis, mitosis, atoms, and more!

Cancer is bad for you, because it is uncontrolled cell growth, and can happen in either interphase, or mitosis.

Germs, viruses, and bacteria aim for doing one thing: to invade your body, but most of them are non-living.

Atoms are what makes up everything, which is known as matter, which matters in science.

Science

Viruses are one of the diseases that are NOT alive.

One of the viruses are called HIV. It aims for your white blood cells, and leads to AIDS.

The chart below shows the differences between mitosis, and meiosis.

Mitosis
Mitosis has stages interphase, prophase,
metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, and
cytokinesis.
The cycle is done once, and does not do it for sperm
or egg cells.
It is done for body growth.

Meiosis
Meiosis has stages prophase I, metaphase I,
anaphase I, telophase I, prophase II, metaphase II,
anaphase II, and telophase II.
The cycle is done twice, and it is for sperm and egg
cells.
It is done for reproduction.

Lets quiz ourselves

1. What are atoms?

2. True or false: prophase is part of meiosis.

3. What is cancer? Is it good or bad?

Answers

1. Atoms are what make up things, which is also known as matter.

2. False. It is part of mitosis.

3. Cancer is uncontrolled cell growth, and it is bad for you.

The Ultimate Test

1. What are viruses?

2. What is mode?
3. Whats the difference between mitosis and meiosis?
4. What do fractions mean?
5. What will reading help you do?

The Answers

1. Viruses are one of the diseases that are NOT alive.

2. Mode is how many times a number is, and there could be one or more mode.
3. Mitosis is done once, and meiosis is done twice.
4. Fractions mean to divide, and created the method Keep it, Flip it, Switch it.
5. Reading will help you become smarter.
