Working Title; Trick or Treat.

Synopsis:
Trick or Treat is a story about a girl/woman, who is out during Halloween
and gets caught up in trouble and ends up killing a someone who we
later find out is her Boyfriend, however, we also find out that everything
that happens is a dream, so when she kills the person, she wake up
thinking it was in her dream, but then, looking at her hand, she finds the
exact same murder weapon that she used in her dream. Scared, she
turns to her boyfriend and also realises it is the victim from her dream,
as she tries to wake him up, she realises that her dream, was actually
reality.
In this short film, there are only two key characters which are;
Narrator/Lauren- Female character, Lauren. She plays the
narrator, and the girl who has the dream. Typical teenager, in a
relationship with Adam. Doesnt really have any friends unless its
her boyfriend. Has a jumpy personality, and is very paranoid.
Adam- also a typical teenager, has a very secretive personality,
doesnt really communicate with many people, quite an isolated
character. When hes fully comfortable around someone, he is
quite a jokey and funny person.
Locations/recce
The best location we all agreed on was Shrewsbury Park. We chose this
location for different reasons, one of the main points were due to the
Layout of the park. It has an open forest along with an open field which
fits the story idea perfectly. Where the field meets the forest area, there
is an arch which will be good for the scene with Adam and Lauren. The
lighting in the forest is ideal too, with all the trees blocking some of the
sun light which makes the scenery look realistic. Another factor was the
noise level- where we will be filming, little of hardly any noise can be
heard ( Except wildlife) however as part of the contingency plan we can
use voice over if needed to help overcome these barriers.

Act one:
The opening scene starts off with the ending (non-linear): Adam and
Lauren about to kiss (using a two shot close up) after he has just
stabbed her (the audience are unaware of whats happened).
Adam gets back from work, and goes straight to his calendar to cross
out the date (31st October) and then has a nap until he has to
begin to get ready for his fancy dress Halloween party.

Act Two:
Adam heads out to the party, as everything is looking really weird,
and making him jump he calms himself down and sets off in a
better mood towards a shortcut, the forest- which gets her to the
party quicker. While walking through the forest, she is scared by
her boyfriend but, by the time the boyfriend reveals who it is and
is close to the girls face, going in for a kiss and saying trick or
treat, baby, Lauran has already stabbed Adam out of fright using
the fake knife that matches her Halloween dress-up character.

Act three:
Lauran wakes up from a nightmare, breathing very heavily and in
shock, but then we see that Lauran is holding the same knife from her
dream that she used to murder her boyfriend and her boyfriend is lying
dead in a pool of blood next to her when she tries to wake him up,
pulling the sheets off him.

INT. HOUSE #2- DAY

Lauran (Thoughts):
Long day at work, yet again. Damn, boss always tryna start trouble
and get me fired. Good thing that I have that Halloween party later on
to relax myself. But (emphasis and prolong) I think I may need a
beauty nap
Nope ! I need to get my costume ready first.
(Lauran starts off looking for clothes in her cupboard (Slowly at first) then starts
taking clothes out to match different.)
(Finds old Halloween costumes)
(Lauran tries on the outfit.)
Lauran:
Ah man! What no knife?! Adam has properly been messing with it again,
with him and his damn mates. Cant wear a costume like this with no knife! Let
me go borrow one from the kitchen.

Lauran takes off her blazer jacket, crosses out the date on her calendar

(Camera now focuses on clock to show time Lauran falling to time she wakes uprepresent that she did fall asleep)
Alarm goes off and Lauran snoozes it
(Wakes up 30minutes later)
Lauran:

(Yawn) Wohhhhh! (Stretching out) I neeeeeeeeded that!

(Checks phone) 30 minutes extra?!... Well you know what they say
better late than never, and imma be fashionably late.
(Funny pose in the mirror)
Lauran gets dressed and ready for the Halloween party later on.

Ext. House

(Mid-way to party).

Lauran:
Oh! I wonder if Adam is going. (Reaches to grab phone, realises she left it
behind) damnn! Left my phone at home. (Looks Back) No point going back now,
just hope his going to be there to be honest.
Montage of images of Adam and Lauran together, showing them as a
couple.
Lauran comes face to face with a forest and beings to wonder
Lauran (Thoughts):
Seeing as Im here, might as well take a shortcut Im pretty sure this is
the way anyways. (Joking, Heroin Manner) Luckily I have my trusted knife with
me! (Takes knife out in a heroic way)
Lauran enters the forest/shortcut. As she reaches the entrance into the
shortcut/forest, she is jumped by Adam, her boyfriend.
Enter. Adam
Jumps Lauran and scares her.
Adam:
Boo! (Moment dies down. Slight Pause)
Overall shot of the two close together, almost kissing

Adam:
(Softly and slowly) Trick or treat (Pause) baby.

Camera slowly moves between Adams facial expressions to Laurans.

Then slowly moves down to show a knife pierced through Adams sides, and
Laurans hand holding the knife, shaking.
(Cut-to bedroom scene)
Lauran wakes up, shocked and scared. Breathing heavily.
Lauran looking surprised and shocked, slowly turns her head and rises her arm to
show her holding a knife with blood on it.

birds mainly are they

animals that are heard in
these woods. Nearby traffic
noise, cars and buses,
however deeper into the
woods the noise becomes
harder to hear.

Wildlife

Bostall Woods

Size

394 acres. Evaluated on

Thursday, was also raining, which
made some parts muddy and
slippery, (Hazard) and Also on
Sunday, drier and easier to walk
across the woods.

Noise

Dogs, the park is an ideal place for

people with dogs (pets) to because of
the wide fields and the deep woods.
People, there are local schools which
students are often seen walking
through, people with pets and families
exploring and having personal time
like picnics.

The woods overall is more known compared

to the other parks/woods evaluated and is
bit more busier with a wider range of people
who spend time at this location, however the
location is ideal and has good features
which can be used in the film, such as there
open fields that lead into the woods and also
open fields within the woods.

The park is for public use

however, compared to the
others parks/woods it lacks
some features that can be
compared to others.

Winns Common

Noise
Traffic/Cars, there is a nearby road and is
usually always bit busy, this maybe
because of the local school further down
the hill, houses nearby, shops/post offices
and places of interest like karate lessons
and also because of the local garage that
is there.

Size

The field is mainly wide and long, has

hardly any trees, because it is an open
field. However there is a mini hill which
sits in the middle of the park.

The field is quite popular especially

with nearby schools and people
walking their dogs. a lot of people
come to this park to exercise also or
play sports like footballs, because of
the football posts that are available to
the public. However the park is usually
busiest in the morning and begins to
get calmer and has less people as the
day goes on.

Checked on a Thursday, which was

raining, the park was slightly muddy.
Friday, raining but the mud was still
walkable and Sunday, where the park
was dry and was much easier to walk.

Noise

Location

Shrewsbury Park
Hardly any cars so park is quite. However people
like to go there to walk there dog. There is a road
nearby but is hardly used, only in the morning,
8o'clock, because of a nearby school, which is a
primary school, so little children screaming maybe
another factor or noise, however shooting in the
weekend so this may not be a problem

Size

46 acres, has an arch of flowers

which we can use in our film, forest
part and an open park.
