Planning &
organisation of
materials, resources

The introduction of the lesson was

good but it went for little longer
time.
The badges showing positions from
1st-3rd were prepared, which created
excitement among students.

Communication with
students; explanation,
questioning skills etc.

After explanation, the questions were

asked which were answered well by
the students.

Selection of learning
tasks

A pre planned worksheet helped me

to complete the learning process.

Monitoring/assessment
of student learning
throughout the lesson
Conclusion of lesson;
transition to next
lesson

I kept on asking questions in order to

guide the thought process and
scaffold.
The completion of worksheets
helped me to wind up the lesson.

Reflection
What was good about this lesson? Why?
The lesson was good as it was a complete unit in itself, starting from first lesson teaching only 1 st- 3rd ordinal
numbers and next lesson 1st -5th leading third lesson 1st-10th ordinal numbers. The completion of unit and
students capability to learn and apply it gave me lot of satisfaction.
How might this lesson have been improved?
The length of introductory part was little longer and awarding badges was again consuming lot of time. The
stickers might have helped in a better way.
What did you learn about teaching and learning (students and your own) from this lesson?
I found that it was for the students to writ spellings of first, second and third while doing worksheet so I
learnt that cards with words must always be displayed in front.
I learnt that children have very short span of concentration so the length of explanation should be minimum
and to the point.

Comments
The introduction had good ideas
behind it, however it took too long
which caused the students to lose
interest.

Planning &
organisation of
materials, resources

Arti prepared badges for the

introduction which the students
responded to well.

Communication with
students; explanation,
questioning skills etc.

Arti asked random students to answer

questions rather than the children who
had their hands up. This was good
because it meant that all the students
needed to think because they didnt
know if they would be called upon.

Selection of learning
tasks

Arti found a sheet from my resources

which was appropriate for the
outcome.

Monitoring/assessment
of student learning
throughout the lesson

Arti worked among the students as

they completed their worksheet and
gave them immediate feedback and
support.

Conclusion of lesson;
transition to next
lesson

Arti was guided on how to get the

students packed up and ready for
snack time.

Any other comments: (e.g. learning goals for next teaching activity)
Arti asked random students to answer questions rather than the children who had their hands up. This was
good because it meant that all the students needed to think because they didnt know if they would be called
upon.
There was no need to sticky tape the badges to every student, this took a long time.
The students could have just held them which wouldve shortened the introduction, and maintained their
interest.
