Pilgerchor (Pilgrims Chorus)

Objectives
Students will be able to sing and hear chromatics within a selection Pilgerchor (Pilgrims Chorus)
section B and B1. Students will sight read sections A and C. Students will also do a score analysis.
Students will record the pronunciations of the German text on their phones given by Mr. Pette
Moore in the after school rehearsal.

Students will work as a group, and in sections.

Methods/Procedures
1. Students will be led in physical and vocal warm ups led by student leaders.
2. Student leader will ask for the key signature and students will identify the key signature and
explain why.
3. Student leader will ask for the time signature and students will identify the time signature
and explain why.
4. Students will work out sight reading lines in section circles.
5. Teacher will ask for the key signature and students will identify the key signature and
explain why.
6. Teacher will ask for the time signature and students will identify the time signature and
explain why.
7. Teacher will have student write in accents on dotted eighth and sixteenth note rhythms,
place fermatas in measures 55 and 57 first two beats, draw glasses (meaning to watch) at
section D, and circle all dynamic markings while in section circles.
8. The group will sight read the rhythms sections B and B1 of Pilgerchor by clapping, ti-ta, and
counting aloud together.
9. Students will be given 10 minutes to have a sectional to learn sections B and B1 in section
rooms led by the section leaders.
10. Students will come back together to demonstrate what they have just learned. This will be
under tempo.
11. Teacher will fix trouble spots whether by note or rhythmic.
12. Students will look at sections A and C. They will be asked what are the similarities and
differences. They will then be given their starting pitch and attempt to sight read the A
section slowly.

Outcomes
Students will demonstrate their knowledge of Pilgerchor. Any issues with the music not worked out
in class will be worked on in after school rehearsal, and student led sectionals.
Homework
Review Pilgerchor (Practice, practice, practice). Students will be allowed to record the
pronunciation of the words of Pilgerchor given by Mr. Pette Moore. They are to listen and practice
to and with the recording to achieve the correct dictation of the song. They are to also record
themselves saying the words in rhythm at the rehearsal.
