20 Winter Songs
1.) The Winter Song
(tune: Farmer in the Dell)
Let's sing a winter song,
Let's sing a winter song,
The days are short, the nights are long.
Let's sing a winter song.
The winter wind is cold,
The winter wind is cold,
It freezes noses, ears, and toes.
The winter wind is cold.
Winter now is here,
Winter now is here,
Put on your coat, your hat, your gloves, Winter now is here.

2.) Winter Wonderland

To the tune of Ring Around the Rosie
Winter Winter Wonderland
Pockets Full of Mittens
Snowflakes, Snowflakes
We All Fall Down.

3.) The Snowkey Pokey

Tune Hokey Pokey
You put your right mitten in,
You take your right mitten out.
You put your right mitten in,
And you shake it all about.
You do the winter pokey, [shiver]
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!
Others Include:
You put your left mitten in....
You put your right boot....
You put your left boot....
You put your winter hat in....
You put your snowsuit (whole body) in...

4.) winter clothes

Put a pile of winter clothing into the center of the circle. (boots, hat, mittens, snow pants, scarf, etc.
Tune : Are You Sleeping
It is snowing, it is snowing,
On my head, on my head
I need a hat, I need a hat,
On my head, on my head"
As you sing name the body part, let the children pick out the correct article of clothing to finish the verse.
For example, if you say feet...they would pick boots.

We did this at circle time with child sized clothing and as we sang, the teacher "put on" the clothing. The
children found this very funny.

5.) Winter is Here

Tune: Clementine
First the snowpants,
Then the boots,
Then the jacket,
Then the hat,
And the mittens go on last,
So we can go outside to play.
I have visuals hanging up on the wall with numbers, so we can point to what comes next. It works well
with 3 year olds.

6.) Snowflake Song

Tune: I'm a Little Teapot
I'm a little snowflake, fat and round
Falling softly to the ground.
When enough of me falls hear me shout,
"Here's a snowball, better watch out!" (pretend to throw a snowball)

7.) Snowball
tune - "Are You Sleeping, Brother John
Make a snowball, make a snowball. Throw it now, throw it now. Make a snowball, make a snowball.
Throw it now, throw it now!
Hand imitates making snowballs and throwing the snowballs. I let my children use crumbled white tissue
paper for the snowballs. They love this winter song

8.) Winter Poem

Here is a cute poem that makes the kids giggle :O)
I made myself a snowball

The frost is on the ground.
It's wintertime, It's wintertime,
The frost is on the ground.

The frost tells me it's cold.

Watch them growing deeper, deeper,
Watch them growing deeper, deeper,
Covering the ground.

Children playing--snow is fun!

Children playing--snow is fun!
When it hits the ground.

Now it's getting warmer, warmer.
