Lincoln, demonstrates the perseverance taken to make slavery end. Just how we have
learned and discussed about it. The new state constitution had to be republican form, abolish
slavery and, provide for the black education (pg 449). Even back then the Republican and
Democratic parties didnt get along but, they as people had hearts. They both went by very
different ideals. But one thing united them they wanted to grow and conquer many things as a
nation and knew that abolishing slavery was going to be for the common good. That it would be
one of the best things to happen to America. Which in fact now, it was and still is.
There is always a difference between what you hear and read about a certain subject. And
when it comes down to seeing a film over it, it can either go one way or the other. It can be a
total waste of information to where it kills the mood and doesnt show anything of what you had
learned or interpreted about the reading. Or it can really hit the main points and events and
satisfy your imagination to the fullest. Well coming from me, I only had a bit of knowledge
about Abraham Lincoln and the issues about slavery during the civil war. However, I never went
into full detail about it. Until I saw the film Lincoln. I had so little knowledge I was amazed by it.
The film showed how determined the anti-slave people were. It presented the atmosphere
spectacularly. You could get a sense of the weather, the emotions happening. All the points came
across so well. All I knew about the civil war and the 13th amendment became so much cleaner. I
would have wanted to see more of the lives of the slaves, how they lived. Correction, how the
not so wealthy slave owners lived with their slaves.
