Research question: How come so called humans think it is alright to abuse or abandon animals?
Working thesis statement: thousands of animals are killed every year. People want
companionship and they run to the nearest animal shelter and adopt the first animal that catches
there eye not knowing what really goes on in animal shelters.
Refined thesis statement: Thousands of animals are euthanized every year. People want
companionship, and without much forethought, they run to the nearest animal shelter and buy the
first animal that catches their eye. Not even having a clue what goes on in animal shelters.

Millions of animals enter animal shelters in the US every year. 60% of those animals are
killed, 15 to 20% are given back to care givers, and the rest of the animals are adopted into a new
home. Animals are at a greater risk to being killed in a shelter including those of certain breeds,
such as fighting animal breeds, older animals or injured animals, sexually intact animals, animals
with mix breeds, brindle, black, and black and tan dogs these characteristics may very on
potential adopters. The ages of the animals is more considered in adoption, the adopters would
prefer puppies over adult dogs. The oldest animals are more likely to be killed in the shelters or
remain in them for longer periods of time then the youngest animals. Few shelters actually have
no kill shelters, the only animals that get killed in no kill shelters are the ones that have a critical

illness or poor temperament, other animals can remain for extended periods of time until they are
adopted. Shelters that are not no kill shelters usually kill the animals because space limitations to
other reasons.

This research has been shown that an abusive household has more than one victim, that an abuser
is more likely to hurt both his or her partner and animal abuse in their home. The intentional
abuse of animal as a method of domestic violence, usually abusers expose on the close emotional
bond shared by the victim and her companion animal to bring harm to the victim. The abuser
may either harm or kill the animal just for the emotional torture that it brings to the victim,
abusers may even make threats to the animal to control or compliance over the human. These
forms of abuse could have an aspect of the broader pattern of control that characterizes an
abusive relationship. Most domestic violence shelters does not allowed animals, which means the
victim would have to leave there animal in the abusive household, by doing that the victim is left
vulnerable by the animal abuser that is going on in his or her household.

What people do know is that when you are holding animals in containment they will go crazy,
some amusement parks not all but some do so are cruel, exploitative, and dangerous to the
marine mammals and the people who come in direct contact with them, does not even know it.
The IDA is urging SeaWorld to stop capturing marine mammals unless it is for rescue and
rehabilitation. Captive orcas must swim in circles or float to the surface of the water in those
conditions it must cause boredom and stress, wild orcas rarely lie still or swim in circles, orcas

have something call echolocation they use this to communicate, navigate, and hunt for food. In
solid concrete walls there sounds waves bounce off the walls. The stress of captivity can drive
orcas and other marine mammals to display neurotic behaviors that can lead to major
consequences
