Midterm Letter of Reflection
In this letter I would like to write about the class in general as well as the goals that have
been set for the class. I certainly feel like I have met most of the goals and standards for this
class in the first half of the semester. This class is an easy one for me because I like writing.
Schoolwork is so much easier when you like doing it so that is very important to me for this
class. Although it may not seem like it, you are definitely my favorite teacher and despite
missing class quite a few times, I really do enjoy it. There is nothing more important to me than
having a teacher who tries hard and cares about her students. It makes me happy to have
someone there who listen to me and try to understand what I am going through. I sincerely thank
you for that.
I believe I have accomplished most of the goals in this class. I definitely write all of my
assignments and with your help I have learned how to properly edit and revise my writing so that
it can be the best possible piece of writing to turn in for a grade. Reflecting on my writing is
something that has been strange to me during the first weeks in this class, but I now realize it is
very important for myself as a writer as it should be for every student who writes.
When it comes to engaging myself with others in the class, I feel as if I do not engage as
much as I possibly can. That is probably due to the fact that I am always very tired in the

morning, but I always try to engage with others in group settings and answer questions every
now and then. During the second half of the semester, I will try to engage myself more with
others outside of my small group.
I believe that I have really begun to explore writing more as it relates to different
contexts, discourses, cultures and textual media. Writing has occurred to me, in this class, as a
much vaster subject or topic than it ever had to me before. I now realize that there are so many
different kinds of writing and that all of those kinds can be explored and interpreted in many
different ways. This has become very interesting to me.
Most importantly, I now understand my own writing and development with heightened
awareness. You have taught me to analyze the writing of others and of myself and while
analyzing my writing I have begun to understand who I am as a writer as well as my writing
itself. I believe that I am beginning to become a better writer because of this class and that really
excites me. I could not be more thankful for you as a teacher and I hope I will continue to grow
as a writer and that you will continue to be a great teacher and influence for me.
