Business Concept Proposal

Business Idea Generation:

The name of your product or service.
Spot On Parking Services

The pain you are going to solve.

Ability to find parking spots within a parking structure by directing users to vacant spots, alerting
the parking enforcement of cars parked in parking spots without proper permit, instant alert
notifications when parking payment time is depleting, save time on parking payment with direct
payment through phone, assists on fee collection/transaction of parking permits and visitor tickets.
This will improve efficiency within parking structures while increasing overall security and
compliance for all vehicles.

The product or service offered.

1) Parking spaces are individually marked with a smart chip that sends and receives signals to
beacons. When a spot is vacant it reports the vacancy on the mainframe server, and the respective
open spots are then reported back to user smartphone
2) Beacons are installed on every level to monitor and receive data for the system (i.e. what
permitted car is parked, how long the car is parked, how much time and funds does that vehicle
have left to remain in the spot)
3) Beacons register information and parking statistics with the parking structure office Spot On
server such as time and location.
4) Any inconsistencies such as cars parked for too long, incorrect hours, or without valid permit,
will notify the main server and alert parking enforcement to regulate the situation.
5) If a person park in a special kind of parking with wrong parking permit, the smart chips in the
permit will sense and alarm to warn the driver. After a certain time, the smart chips will notify
parking office to regulate the situation. This function only for the special parking structure, for
example, for A, B, S permit in UCSD.
Note Standard parking payment systems are readily installed on every level of the parking
structure, and in the case where people do not have smartphones all normal parking functions
ensue. Moreover users can also access web interface on any computer for full application
functionality. In the unlikely case that a designated user parking spot is taken while a user is
driving to that spot, the Spot On app will automatically alert and reroute user to another parking
spot nearby.

The estimated market size and growth rate.

The estimated market size is immense due to the populations increasing number of drivers. We

predict that any major location with large parking lots and structures would be in the market for
this. The growth rate will definitely be exponential as we move more into of a smartphone age and
as cost of convenience increases.

How customers will get the product.

Vehicle owners will use the application through their smartphone or Spot On enabled device.
There is also a Smart Chip that is installed each parking spot of the structure. Parking operators
install beacons to emit signals for connectivity with the smart sticker that is used to detect which
spot the car owner parked in. Moreover, if vehicle user segment has a designated type of parking
(i.e., school: Students, Employees, Faculty or hospital: nurse, doctor, patients) vehicle owners can
elect to adopt separate Smart Permit for their cars. This will easily transition students into student
spots, and employees into employee spots.

A compelling example of how the product or service benefits the customer.

Spot On will allow users to find parking remotely and efficiently within any parking structure.
This will save users time and move vehicles more efficiently into respective spots. Parking
operators will have the ability to track which vehicles enters the structure, the number of spaces
remaining, and whether the vehicle was parked legally. This will save both time and wages of
parking enforcement and maintenance. This app will also decrease the securitys time of manually
searching parking lots for correctly permitted cars. The security enforcers can put their time to
better uses such as assisting appeals, streamlining bureaucracy, helping with technicalities of Spot
On. This is an important investment for parking lot owners because not only would it be more
efficient, but also customers would be more willing to go to that structure without the worry of
available parking. Thus, the system can make parking structures of businesses more competitive,
which would bring in more revenue. For examples a mall with this parking structure may be more
attractive since users have ease of finding spots. Moreover payment parking such as for school,
airport, train station, bus station, or any required payment structure can be transacted at ease and
without user leaving the car.

Why is your product or service innovative? Explain this by using the seven sources of innovation.
The innovation of this product is generated in response to process needs. In our current day, the
car is a necessary tool for everyday people and parking is the number one dread people have when
driving their vehicles. Through observing inconvenience in people lives, we developed this app
to solve people problems and efficiently move vehicles into spots. We can increase the efficiency
of parking lot security and enforcement by reporting parking lot conditions remotely to a server.

Business Model Canvas:

Customer Segments
Multi-sided Platform Business Model:
1. Users: Drivers who are finding parking in high traffic locations.
2. Locations: Schools, Malls, Airports, Train Stations, Tourist Spots, Theme Parks, Concert
Venues, Hospitals, and other areas that have parking lots and structures.

Value Propositions
1. Allows customers to efficiently locate parking spot vacancies thus reducing time, car circling,
congestion, and air pollution for drivers to respective Spot On structures. Visitors will be able to
know when their parking time is up or not and can refill their time through this service. Also the
application saves time of customers through an easier payment system on their phones or online.
Allow users to find their cars via GPS in parking lots to ease access to their vehicles.
2. Moreover, Spot On allows parking structure operators to systemize their parking spaces for
ease of regulation and maintenance. For example, Spot On can alert parking enforcement which
designated car may have surpassed their time limit or breached their permissions and dispatch
enforcers on a needed basis. Spot On will alert the security when a car is parked inappropriately.
This is a huge contrast compared to now, in which parking enforcers check each spot individually.
This would also be a huge benefit for parking structure authority because they will be able to
manage fines and be paid systematically and instantly rather than risking a worker having to
check everything first hand and potentially missing multiple citations. By doing so, this would
allow adopted structures to maintain their daily operations in a much more efficient and costly
manner.

Channels
1. The app is distributed through smartphone enabled devices directly to users for instant function.
Users can find this application on both the Android and Apple app stores. Non-smartphone drivers
may also access our service through our website online.
2. Moreover, we will make contracts with parking structures that will require installation of
software and replication of parking structure design layout in order to deploy the application.

Customer Relationships
Online chat resource for users to communicate with a representative parking enforcer or
professional when users need to troubleshoot application.

We have a point system that allows users to notify the application when theyre leaving a parking
spot to help transition run more smoothly. With these points, they can accumulate a credit in order
to make future purchases for parking payments.

Revenue Streams
Our major revenue stream would be leasing the software system and app to parking authorities.
We also conduct revenue from collecting part of the penalty from parking office.

Key Resources
In order to provide efficient service to our customers, we need an active server to broadcast
information to all users and receive real time information on users. This means the beacons, smart
chips, and smart permits are all key resources for this company We also need a team of
technicians or trained parking enforcers that can troubleshoot the system at any time. For
developing and regulating our business, we need some trusted investors to support our financials.
This application will require Apple Store, Google Play Store, or any other application delivery
method to reach our users smartphone interface.

Key Activities
-Retrieve real time parking space status into a system mainframe to produce best possible parking
space outcome for registered users.
-Enforce parking regulations more efficiently and effectively by implementing real time system of
cars parked which creates a feedback loop between structure availability and users.
-Manage relationships between car owners and parking structure authority; i.e. enabling users to
purchase permits remotely, alerting users of possible fines, fees, or time depletion.
-Produce the smart chips, which are to be implemented on each parking spot.
-Install software and replicate parking structure design layout in order to deploy the application

Key Partnerships
We will need to cooperate with the parking authority of our main customer base (schools,
shopping malls, office buildings, etc.) to install the beacons and servers. Another partner is our
suppliers for Smart Permits. This application does require an extensive user base to make an
effective and popular ecosystem. We will need to promote the use of Spot On on each location in
order create user base.

Cost Structure
We need to pay the salaries for our software programmers and training for server technicians.
Moreover our variable costs include the price per chip used per car Smart permit. Also we need to
buy the devices and pay the installation cost for beacons, sensors, smart chips and the rest of the
devices required to have application to function. In order to maintain our electronic devices
installed in working status, a utility fee will be an essential part in our cost structure that we will
source from transaction fees collected.

Elevator Pitch:
Advantages over Traditional Parking Systems
What is the most annoying thing about driving?
In our current day we spend on average 5 minutes to find a parking space upon
arrival to the parking lot. In high capacity locations such as the mall or the airport
the average time may be 10 minutes. Even here at UCSD it is impossible to find a
spot quickly and conveniently without going through the parking structures. We all
know it and we all do it, search each and every floor of Pangaea for that S spot.
Sometimes we get to the end floor without any luck of ever finding a space and
find ourselves heading to the next structure to do the same thing. Introducing Spot
On the app that finds parking spaces for you so you do not have to.

Three Major Elements

1. Driver customer - Allows customers to efficiently locate parking locations thus reducing time,
car circling, congestion, and air pollution. Directing users to parking space.
2. Parking structure - Security guards do not have to waste their time going around the parking
lots searching for falsely parked cars because Spot On will alert the security whether cars are
parked falsely or not. They can allocate their time to other security matters. Reducing
maintenance fees of parking authorities.
3. Driver customer - Saves time of customers through an easier and more convenient payment
system on their phones or online. Efficiency.
