UNIT NAME: Six Different Dimensions of You


AUDIENCE: Wentzville Senior High School Students
TIME FRAME: 4 Sessions, 30-45 minutes

Lesson 1 (Cognitive) Dimensions of the Mind: Occupational and Intellectual Wellness
What is involved with occupational wellness?
-Class discussion to list their ideas of what occupational wellness is.

-Class discussion to list their ideas of why its important.
-Connect the ideas
Careers, Responsibilities, and Life: Finding Fulfillment and Balance
What is intellectual wellness?
-The Three Cs: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Curiosity
-Class activity: Write down three examples on an index card, one for each C, that demonstrates
intellectual wellness in their own experience
What is intellectual wellness important after school?
-Class discussion on ways to continue to be a lifelong learner

Lesson 2 (Affective) Dimensions of the Spirit: Emotional and Spiritual Wellness
What does emotional wellness mean to you?
-Venn Diagram on the White Board of Positive, Neutral, Negative emotions (to be filled by student
opinions).

Emotions and Reactions: How to Cope in Healthy Ways
-Class participation of discussing situations or reactions they have been unsure of how to handle
appropriately.
Giving meaning to spiritual wellness
The Values of Your Life
-Class discussion on the difference between a having a career and a having purpose.

Assessment Activity: Instructor led class debate over preselected scenarios involving intense emotions or
uncommon social values

Lesson 3 (Psycho-Motor) - Dimensions of the Body: Physical and Social Wellness


Physical Wellness
-Unit is still under development as of Unit Outline Due Date.
Assessment Activity: Roleplaying Healthy Communication
Lesson 4 (External) The Six Dimensions of Wellness
Wellness vs Health
- Class participation on definitions and perceptions about what wellness means to them.
The Wellness Wheel: A Well Rounded Individual
Body: Physical and Social Wellness
-List class suggestions of examples on the board
-Get up/Stretch/Say Hello to Your Neighbor
Mind: Occupational and Intellectual Wellness
-List class suggestions of examples on the board
-Ask the class to list things they would like to learn more about by the time they are 20.
Spirit: Emotional and Spiritual Wellness
-List class suggestions of examples on the board
-A Mindful Minute: The class will sit quietly and focus on their own wellbeing for a minute of mindful
silence. Optional: Play relaxing chimes or bell meditation music for the minute.
-Coloring in Your Wellness Wheel
Strengths & Weakness: Everyone is Different
A Strong Future: Protecting Your Happiness with Wellness
Assessment Activity: Foam Swords Students fill out their future goals on the sword to use in their future
battles to protect and promote their wellness.
