The Debate about

Plagiarism

Manatees are typically

found in shallow coastal
areas and rivers where
they feed on sea grass,
mangrove leaves, and
algae. (Frost)

The average adult manatee is about 10 feet long and

weighs between 800 and 1,200 pounds. (Save the
Manatee Club)
The manatee is portrayed as a very slow moving
mammal. It is true that their average speed is about 5 miles
per hour. However, they can swim up to 15 miles per hour
when they have to for a short period of time. (Facts about
Manatees)

Academic Integrity at UNCC

Academic honesty and integrity are essential to the
existence and growth of an academic community.
Without maintenance of high standards of honesty,
members of the instructional faculty are defrauded,
students are unfairly treated, and society itself is
poorly served. Maintaining the academic standards of
honesty and integrity is ultimately the formal
responsibility of the instructional faculty; and this
responsibility is shared by all members of the
academic community.

Nice Poem; Ill Take It

With every draft I read aloud, I tasted the
words in my mouth. Salty, sweet, fatty,
lean, velvet, metallic, mean. Mine. What
does it feel like, tasting words youve
stolen? Like sand, I suspect. Sand that a
man dying of dehydration drinks in the
desert, never slaking his thirst.

Plagiarism Is Not a Big Moral Deal

It follows that students who never quite get the
concept right are by and large not committing a
crime; they are just failing to become acclimated to
the conventions of the little insular world they
have, often through no choice of their own,
wandered into. Its no big moral deal; which
doesnt mean, I hasten to add, that plagiarism
shouldnt be punished if youre in our house,
youve got to play by our rules just that what
youre punishing is a breach of disciplinary
decorum, not a breach of the moral universe.
