Group Behavior Contingency Plan (BCP)

Fiesta!
Undesirable Behavior Targeted:
Students do not always begin the warm up that is on the front screen as soon as they walk into
the classroom. Valuable instructional time is lost when students do not use the first 5 minutes of
class to begin their thinking over the topic for the day. Sometimes they are wandering around and at
other times they are talking to their friends.
Desirable (expected) Behavior Targeted:
The behavior that will be reinforced will be that the students walk into the room, and
immediately begin their warm up.
Types of positive reinforcements - Reinforced when & how?
1. Immediate R+ - students will receive a stamp on their warm up papers if they began the
warm up immediately.
2. Delayed R+ - Every 10 stamps will equal one foam sticker put on the perimeter of the
bulletin board. This will continue until the perimeter of the bulletin board is complete.
3. Overall R+ - When the perimeter is completely filled in with foam stickers, the class will
have a fiesta, celebrating the culture and celebrations of Mexico.
Interactive Learning Activity
When the bulletin board perimeter is complete, the students will research basic information
about Mexico using a Country research form as a guide. Students will make and bring
authentic Mexican food to share. The Fiesta will include a piata, music from Mexico, and
the students will make papel picado as the cultural activity, and then string the papel picado
around the room.
Teaching the Desired Behavior:
1. First I will explain the expectation to the class that when they walk in the room they should
begin their warm up.
2. Then I will explain that if they get a stamp on their warm up paper, I will tally the stamps and
every 10 stamps will equal one foam sticker put on the bulletin board.
3. I will then explain that once the perimeter is filled, we will have our Fiesta.
Options
In order to implement the plan across Class Periods I would either have several bulletin boards,
one per class, or give specific stickers to each class so that they can see how they did in comparison
to the other classes.
