December 2009
It was at this time last year that I first heard about the opportunity to spend a year in South Africa on a STINT with Campus
Crusade for Christ. So much has happened since then and I am amazed at what God has done in my life over the past 12
months. He assured me of His calling to be in South Africa. He gave me boldness to share about this ministry with strangers
and friends. He has taught me more about His character and love than I could have ever imagined. And He has brought in over
$40,000 to make this ministry possible through a team of partners in the United States.
I have never been more convinced of the faithfulness and love that characterizes the person of Jesus Christ. In these past few
months I have come to understand what it means to have hope in Christ and rejoice in this hope (Romans 5:2). My hope is not
in what He can do for me or even in good things like ministry (even though I so often forget that.). My hope is in Him, who He
is, what He was already done, and His promise that one day I will be with Him face to face. That is the hope that I want to
share with the people in Durban. This hope is what can change a country in devastation; we all just get to be a part of it!
Our team leaves for South Africa on January 12th. Please pray that our visas would be approved quickly and for the logistics of
getting over there and settled. Pray that the Lord would lead us in how to spend out time once we are there. Pray that the hearts
of these students would be prepared for the Gospel. Personally, I ask that you would pray that I would fall more in love with
Jesus and not just doing His work.
I cannot express to you how deeply grateful I am for your partnership. You are God’s provision and a constant reminder of His
faithfulness to provide everything we need (Matthew 6:32-33). Thank you for using
your resources to take the Gospel to the nations and thank you for your prayers!
