Sheil’s father, Denis Sheil I, was a president of
Local 1536 as well as Secretary Treasurer of the
District Council, Following in this tradition of
just leadership, Sheil worked with his tools in
school before finally doing it fulltime as a
member of Local Union 1536.
‘Throughout his years as a Timberman, Sheil
has been a leader dedicated to the improvement
‘of both his local and the Carpenters’ Union. He
worked as a Timberman on such jobs as the
Second Avenue and 63rd Street subways before
becoming a Business Agent and holding several
offices, including Secretary Treasurer, of his
beloved local. In 1998, Sheil became a District
Council Representative and was elected to Vier
resident ofthe District Council in 2002. He has
‘continuously fought for our members and helped
to keep our union strong and our members
working,
