Subject: Writing
Unit: Personal Narrative
when it is time to write their rough draft. In the storyboard, tell students they will draw 6
boxes in their writers notebook. In box one, they will titled it Where You Were. Box two,
Moment it Started. Box three What Happened Next. Box four, Final Moment. Box five,
What You Felt. Box six, What Did You Learned. In each box, they will write one or two
sentences and then draw a picture. Modeled and create/show them an example what it
supposed to look like.
Formative Check (ongoing or specific): Walk around the room to monitor the
students as they draw their picture on the camera cutouts. Make sure they are following
directions by using pencils first then trace it and color it with crayons. When students are
working on their storyboard, make sure in each box they are writing one or two sentences
for each picture. If any students need help with clarification, go over the instructions or
refer back to the examples.
Reteach (alternative used as needed): If reteach is necessary, explain to students again what
you mean by zooming in on a memory. Tell students that they will pick that one special
moment when they received that object. Provide more examples if necessary.
Closure: Have students share with their classmates their Camera picture they drew along
with their storyboard with their writing partners. Then tell students that tomorrow they
will learn how to write good leads to their narratives.
Assessment/Summative Evaluation: Performance assessment will be taken as students work
quietly on their picture and storyboard.

Modifications/Notes: Students with learning disabilities: Give instructions in chunk and
repeat instructions. Provide more examples/ model what the storyboard should like if
necessary. If needed, pull students to small group and work with them as they draw their
picture and creating their storyboard.
