Explain the choice of definition in terms of a writing class.
The definition that I think best fit a writing class is a condition that makes life difficult,
challenging, or uncomfortable. The reason why Ive chosen this definition is writing is my
weakest subject, and I always feel uncomfortable and less motivated in a writing class. The main
reason why I dislike writing is I am not a good writer; therefore, I am more motivated to do math
then writing. Writing is still uncomfortable for me because I still have problem putting my
thoughts into words; however, it motivates me to think outside of the box and strive to be a
literal thinker. From experience, I tends to strive to do better if I am in an uncomfortable
situation because it motivates me to ac. Writing is one of the most important skills that college
students must develop, and in order to develop that skill I must be willing to push myself to
work. My high school mentality is slowly changing because I am forced to do independent
thinking; therefore, I am more motivated to think for myself and support my reasoning.
Reflection
The day after the midterm conference, the professor had a discussion with the whole class
of her expectation of the class as we were approaching the end of semester. I admit that
throughout the whole discussion I feel ashamed of myself for not putting in enough effort for my
daybook. I realized that I need to stop making up excuses that would prevent me from becoming
an efficient writer. Since I dislike writing, I would delay all of my assignments and wait till the
last minute to start writing. However, this hurt me even more as writer because I would put
pressure on myself for having too much work and essentially I dislike writing even more.
Intensive writing class is for me to learn how to write different type of college paper. In order for
me to successfully accomplish my goal of becoming a better writer I must step out of my
comfort zone. My professor stated that Learning take place when you go out and discover new
things. I agree with her completely because I learned how to write ethnography, oral history

report and personal proclamation. I believe that in order to become better at something, I must
put myself in an uncomfortable situation that would potentially motivate me to become
successful.
