Title: Nate the Great & the Phony Clue

Autor: Marjorie Weinman Sharmat

Nate was a boy that solved cases, he

was a detective.
One day, Nate and Sludge, his dog,
were running around the block for
exercise; they saw many friends, then
they came back to their house and in
the doorstep, Nate saw a piece of paper
that said VITA.

He thought that VITA was part of a

message that his mom left him, so he
joined all the parts of the mesage, but the
message was completed.
Nate and Sludge left the house and went
to Rosamonds house, her friend, and he
asked to her Did you or your cats leave
this note in my doorstep?, she said that
no but one of her cat had a note.

There was missing a name on it, so they

continued walking, they saw Annie, Finley
and Pip coming down the street, he asked
them if they had seen a piece of paper
with a name on it this morning and they
said that no.
Finley and Pip walked away, and Finley
dropped a piece of paper into the sewer.

After they left the street, Nate and Sludge

looked into the sewer and there was a
paper, it could be the missing piece, but
they didnt know because the paper looked
blank, the print must be on the side that
was facing down.
He waited for the water in the sewer to
make the paper very wet, the printing on it
was dark, the paper said Phony Clue

Nate saw that the missing piece was

shaped like a boat, he remembered that
he had seen a boat before on a paper
ocean, so he went there and fitted his
pieces of the invitation around it and they
fitted.

He thought about the paper water and the

invitation.

He put his invitation on water and it was

the same printing as the paper water that
was on the sewer, so he discovered that
Finley and Pip wrote the invitation.
Finley and Pip recognized that Nate was a
great detective; they celebrated eating
pancakes.
