Developmental Stretches

Developmental stretches are held for a period of 30 seconds, the stretch is first held
where the client feels the muscle ‘stretching’, once the muscle relaxes slightly (6 – 10
seconds) the stretch is increased further (11 – 30 seconds) and is thought to increase
flexibility.

Developmental stretching isn't all about reaching new levels of flexibility and shouldn't be
considered a specialist area of stretching. Anyone that has an incorrect posture or muscle
cramp should look at using developmental stretches.

Improved flexibility will make you feel more relaxed, enhance movement, promote
circulation and protect against injury.

Perform Developmental Stretches on the:


Hamstrings
Quadriceps
Hip Flexors
Abductor
Adductors

Hold all other stretches for 15 seconds
