2. What are the positive signs that show allergic reaction?

Since our subject is about skin testing, the positive signs that show allergic
reaction is the reddening and swelling of the skin [ CITATION Med02 \l 1033 ].

3. What are the emergency steps to be done in the presence of anaphylactic reaction
while performing skin testing?

There is only one rapidly effective treatment for anaphylaxis – epinephrine by

injection. Epinephrine is adrenaline and it rapidly reverses anaphylactic symptoms. It is
typically given through an automatic injection device. The most common injection site is
the thigh [ CITATION Web09 \l 1033 ].

In addition to epinephrine, treatment for shock includes intravenous fluids and

medicines that support the actions of the heart and circulatory system. After a person in
shock is stabilized, antihistamines and steroids may be given to further reduce
symptoms [ CITATION Web09 \l 1033 ].

IV. Conclusion:

Skin testing can help confirm the substances that cause severe allergic reactions. In
preparing admixtures for skin testing, aseptic techniques should be practiced in order prevent
contamination. Skin testing admixture should be prepared right before the skin testing is
conducted to assure freshness of the admixture.

In the advent of an anaphylactic shock during skin testing, epinephrine is the effective
treatment for anaphylaxis. In addition to epinephrine, treatment for shock includes intravenous
fluids and medicines that support the actions of the heart and circulatory system. After a
person in shock is stabilized, antihistamines and steroids may be given to further reduce
symptoms.
