 The problem that we are discussing today

is the conditions of slums.
We will be talking manly about the slums in
Jakarta and how we wish to improve their
lives with new homes and their economical
life.

 A slum is one or a group of individuals

living under the same roof, lacking one or
more of the amenities below:
1)Durable housing
2)Sufficient living area
3)Good water
4)Good sanitation facilities
5)Protection against forced eviction.

 Slums can be located in any urban area in

a developing country.
The people that live there are usually poor
and dont have enough money to buy there
own house.

 Our solution is to collect donations

from the public around the world and
use the money to build some
apartment blocks.

 Our aim is to give the

people in the Jakarta slum
the normal life that we
have. As part of this we
will give them
opportunities such as:
1) Apartment blocks to live in
2) Fresh water
3) Cleaning facilities

 At the end of this project we hope to

have a couple of apartment buildings
on the slum site and enough money
on the donation page to start on
another slum site.

 To achieve our aim we will start up a

donation website, make an
advertisement for television, tell the
public on the street and get volunteers
to help
with the
construction of the
buildings.

 Anybody can be involved in helping

build apartment blocks. Even if you
are not able to build you can still help
supply materials or money or support.

 Success would be reflected by having

a successfully running block of
apartments, enough money for people
that live there and that the people that
live
there will be happy.

 Rice balls are eaten by some people

in slums.
Here is how we made them
Ingredients:
2 cups Rice
3 cups Water
Water to wash the Rice x3

 Instructions:
Add Rice to rice cooker
Wash in running water three times
Place 3 cups of water in rice cooker
Turn rice cooker on to cook
Once cooked remove rice and place in
plastic container
When cool enough to handle (but still
hot), use gladwrap (cling film) to hold

 Place a little amount of rice on

gladwrap and roll into a ball
Place ball of rice on plate and repeat.
Rice is naturally sticky so this is the
easiest way to handle the rice if you
dont have gladwrap ensure your
hands are wet to handle the rice.
