Earths Land: In class, we have been studying the different types of land
features. There are a few famous land features listed below.

Task: As newspaper staff in your group, pick one landform above to research further in
order to create a newspaper on that landform. Included in your newspaper should be the
location and descriptions of the land feature, an illustration and facts about the land
features, and different activities that you could do when visiting this land feature.

Reflection Page
Standards: 3-3.5 Illustrate Earths saltwater and freshwater
features (including oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds, streams and
glaciers).
3-3.6 Illustrate Earths land features (including volcanoes, mountains,
valleys, canyons, caverns, and islands) by using models, pictures,
diagrams, and maps.

While creating this activity in class, I thoroughly enjoyed picking


the task for the students to do to further their knowledge on
landforms. However, it seemed very difficult to find numerous
appropriate kid-friendly websites for all of the landforms listed above.
Due to the limited kid-friendly websites, my concern for this activity
would be to make sure that the students are typing in the correct
website and that could be solved by closely monitoring the students
while they are completing this activity. I will use this activity in the
future with my students because it is a way to enrich the standards
that they have already learned in my class. This is a beneficial activity
because the students are continuing to learn about landforms while
carrying out a job of working for a newspaper. I think this is a fun
activity to do with your students that they will enjoy!
