CARRINGTON COLLEGE
Technology Integration
Pearson eCollege / Learning Studio: Managed student coursework for grading through this online learning
shell that includes use of a grade book, an email management system, a drop box for submission
of attached assignments and papers, and a bulletin board for discussion board threads
Turn It In: Managed student papers through an online portal that allows for tracking of written content and
searching a robust database for identification of potential plagiarism.
GradeMark: Utilized this program embedded within Turn It In to provide both grammatical and customized
feedback to students within the body of their papers.
eLumen: Utilized this program to track student learning outcomes as a mean to track that outcomes for the
course and program are being met for accreditation purposes.
Laerdal Simulation Equipment: Utilized simulation equipment and software to develop robust real-time
simulation scenarios for students to provide realistic clinical experiences allowing for critical
thinking and application of knowledge.
Course Development
NUR138: Medication Administration and Pharmacology for Nursing
Redesigned this course curriculum to have a more refined focus on the pharmacology principles as
they are outlined within the NCLEX test blueprint, assuring proper alignment with learning
outcomes and use of new educational techniques for enhanced learning.
NUR138: Medication Administration Lab
Redesigned this course utilizing high-fidelity simulation and hands-on practice to adequately
prepare students for their clinical experiences focusing predominately on the acute care arena.
Skills include oral, topical, enteral and parenteral routes for medication administration.
NUR262: Management of Care
Redesigned this course curriculum to follow the NCLEX test blueprint to address declining score in
the Management of Care and Safety and Infection Control sections of the NCLEX. Assured the
course met the student learning outcomes for the program, and that content utilized modern
educational techniques to address varied learning styles.
BANNER HEALTH
Technology Integration
Banner Learning Center: Developed and managed educational content provided within this online learning
management system that allows for timed launches, and annual tracking as required for
accreditation, certifications, and clinical practice guidelines.
SharePoint: Utilized this online content management system to share content development work with peer
educators throughout the Banner Health System.
LiveMeeting: Worked within this video and presentation platform to facilitate and participate in meeting with
education and leadership peers throughout the Banner Health System.
Laerdal Simulation Equipment: Utilized simulation equipment and software to develop robust real-time
simulation scenarios for students to provide realistic clinical experiences allowing for high-level
application of knowledge.
Curriculum Development
Therapeutic Hypothermia: Developed a guideline outlining all the Banner Health System-wide protocols and
policies in existence in 2013 to identify discrepancies and provide clear guidelines for the upcoming
redesign of current practice. The guidelines were provided to the Critical Care Clinical Discipline
Team to guide the definition of the practice change in 2014.
Emergency Department to Critical Care Prioritization: Developed educational materials used at multiple
levels of discipline including medical providers, nursing and respiratory therapy. Materials were
developed to inform clinical staff of the practice protocols, and provide strong rationale for practice
changes to improve program adoption.
Safe Procedure: Created role-play scripts for use throughout the procedural departments within the Banner
Health System during the launch of this new practice.
Technology Integration
LoudCloud Online Learning Platform: Managed student coursework as a graduate preceptor experience.
