Instructional Procedures

a. Warm-up: The class will be divided in three. Each group will be given a
digestive system puzzle, made of foamy, that they need to match.
b. Teaching procedures
Presentation: T will introduce the parts of the digestive system and explain the
function of each part using a digestive system made of foam, and posters.
Controlled practice: Experiment: How is food broken down? What is an
enzyme? T introduces the blender as a model stomach and what it does to
prepare food to be absorbed in the small intestine. T conducts the experiment by
having food chopped into smaller portions and moistened by water (saliva).Ss
list healthy food. Ss list food that is easy to process.
T puts food into the blender and start the blender on slow for a few seconds,
then stop and add orange juice (acid) and a couple drops of water (enzymes). T
starts up the blender on a faster speed that turns food into a thick liquid and stop
blender. Summative: T will evaluate if Ss are paying attention, and if they are
participating.

c. Closure: In their groups, students will be given in flashcards the function of
each part of digestive system, and the concept, Ss need to match the two parts,
the group that finishes first, will win an extra point and a fruit for each one.
Formative: Matching question quiz.
d. Feedback: Talk for a minute. The leader of each group will explain the whole
system and what he/she learned in class.

Control Practice: Summative: T will evaluate if Ss are paying attention, and if
they are participating.
f. Student Participation: Starts in warm up, teaching procedure, in the
closure and also doing homework.
g. Homework: Design each part of the digestive system (use recyclable
products to construct and represent each part. Ensure to label and explain each
part of the digestive system)
