Most parents know how important it is for them to read to their children

at home. What you choose to read and the discussions you have about the
books are also important. Therefore, this Parent Read-Aloud Program is
designed to give you, the parents, the very best literature to share with your
child AND provide questions that promote a richer literary experience.

Your child will be bringing home special Parent Read-Aloud books. These
books will include a discussion guide that tells you what kind of book (genre)
this book is, and questions for you and your child to answer together. The
guide features questions that ask your child to

think about the text

think within the text

expand vocabulary with a

think beyond the text

vocabulary builder

These are the types of questions students are presented with at school.
Practicing them at home will help your child extend his/her own thinking and
become a better reader.
