The Purpose
Technology has found its place in the classroom and is here to stay. In order to stay
current to meet the needs of the students, instructors must continue to learn new ways to teach.
The purpose of this chart is to provide information on different types of technology-based tools
that can be used in the classroom.
Technology-Based Tools Template

Summary:
Smart TV: by providing films such as documentaries on-demand, this allows students to
access the information when it is most convenient for the student.
Ning: this social network can provide a forum for students to discuss topics relevant to
what is being covered in the class. This forum could be established as a judgment free
zone where students to comment on topics in a respectful way.
Quizstar: This test creator will build a test based on the information provided by the
instructor.
Snag Films: like Smart TV, this tool provides films such as full-length documentaries for
students to view and discuss. In addition to providing the full-length documentary, the
site also provides discussion questions regarding the film. The instructor has the ability
to review the questions and determine what questions are most relevant to the topic of
study.
The most appealing aspect of the tools that have been selected is that they are all very accessible.
An instructor can create an assignment and a deadline as to when to complete along with
allowing students to work at a pace that is most comfortable for them. While ensuring the proper
technology needs are met in order access the materials may be a challenge, with proper
notification, students can ensure his or her computer is set up the way it needs to be in order to
complete assignment.
