Hope 1844 Ministry

OVERVIEW of MY LIFE TESTIMONY and HOPE 1844 MINISTRY

Dear Friends,
"In reviewing our past history, having traveled over every step of advance to our present
standing, I can say, Praise God! As I see what the Lord has wrought, I am filled with
astonishment, and with confidence in Christ as leader. We have nothing to fear for the future,
except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history.
{CCh 359.4}
My name is Bemnet. I am a young medical doctor graduated from School of Medicine and
Dentistry in Eritrea, East Africa. I grew up in a Seventh-day Adventist Christian family in that
small country. Even though we were a poor family we had everything we needed. From
childhood I learned to pray and my father taught us Bible stories. I loved hearing the Bible
stories and when my father gave me a small Bible I remember studying the stories of Jesus again
and again. This put a great desire in my heart; I decided to become either a pastor or a doctor to
help people learn of Jesus.
When I was eleven years old my father asked me what I wanted to be in the future and I said that
I wanted to be a doctor and serve God. In many ways he has been a great counselor and
encouraging father to me. But at that time he said, It is not possible to be a doctor because there
is no school of medicine in this country. But I kept praying and asking God for guidance. I was
asking God if a school of medicine could be opened in Eritrea or if God could bring me to the
USA so that I could study at Loma Linda. I prayed for years. I remember when I was about
thirteen years old I was praying and fasting and many times weeping in tears. One day when I
felt desperate for help and was in tears, God answered me. I heard a voice speaking to me. The
voice was repeating Philippians 4:6: Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Sometime later I
had a vivid dream that taught me to stand firm for God, even in times of no support or loneliness.
This came true in many phases of my lifeespecially when I was forced to join the military,
when I studied in the school of medicine with no religious freedom, and on my journey to the
USA. It was a great miracle when the medical school opened in 2004, right on time! While
studying medicine I was reading the Bible, the Spirit of Prophecy, and watching 3ABN and the
Hope Channel. This created a desire to know more of God's natural remedies. I was wishing the
impossibleto be able to come to the USA and be trained as a true medical missionary right
after I finished my medical studies. I marvel at all the miracles that God in His great
mercy wrought in my life, such as: intervening and protecting me while I
was in the military; enabling me to keep the Sabbath holy in medical school,

even in times of persecution; helping me safely cross the border and flee my
country which has no religious freedom; and guiding me all the way overseas
with no money in hand. But all the challenges that I encountered have now turned out for
my good.
When I faced some failures and weaknesses, my God was there to give me support and
encourage me. Even in times of sorrow and pain I have seen Him comforting me, especially
when loneliness was hard to bear. I cannot know what exactly He has planned for my life, but I
know and believe that His plans for His children are always the best ones.
God has delivered me out of my afflicted land. Before I came here, I promised God that if He
would allow me to come to the US safely and get medical missionary training, then I would work
for my people. I would prepare studies on Daniel and the Revelation. I would translate into my
native language some of the Spirit of Prophecy books and messages on health. I would seek
opportunities to air programs for my people and share my testimony in their own language. Most
of the people haven't mastered the English language, including the SDA members. I have seen
many having a tendency to watch non-SDA messages because it has drama and action, thus they
don't have to rely solely on verbal communication. They rationalize watching it because of the
language barrier and so they get trapped in many ways.
Now, it is my earnest prayer to make possible a way of reaching the Eritrean people. Many are
dying because of political, religious, and economical crises in that small country, and in other
countries where they live as refugees. There are significant numbers of refugees in countries such
as Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt, Libya, Israel, and in Europe, Australia, and North America. They live
in close knit groups. In Sudan, I heard, more than one million Eritrean refugees live. Many
Eritrean women are brutally raped. The people are taken as hostages for money exchange,
especially in Egypt Sinai desert; their organs are taken, harvested for profit, and they die in
terrible pain. Many families are brokenhearted. I believe that only Jesus is the remedy for all of
these tragedies.
Jeremiah 9:1 says, Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might
weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people.
Through Gods blessing Hope 1844 Ministry has been distributing glow tracts containing
"present truth" to about 7 different countries in Tigrinya (Eritrean language). Many of the glow
tracts have been able to reach Eritrean refugees. Hope 1844 Ministry is also distributing Tigrinya
SDA hymns on CD to counteract ungodly music from poisoning God's true church. Soon,
sermons are to be distributed on DVD.
Daniel and the Revelation, music, dress, and the health message are some of the main topics that
I see my people need in a special way. Another critical issue is the Spirit of Prophecy
which lifts the Bible high and makes it easier to understand. There is a great need for
educating the people on this special gift of prophecy that God has given His last day
church. This is a burden on my heart.

MINISTRY GOALS and NEEDS

1. Reach souls and prepare them for the soon second coming of Jesus.
2. Translate and print our SDA messages including Spirit of Prophecy books in Eritrean
native language.
3. Start radio and TV programs in Tigrinya language. The plan is to start in areas where
most Eritreans are settled in the US like Washington DC, New York, Bay Area... Then
extend the work to refugee camps and other countries like Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and
Europe, Asia, and the rest of the world. There are millions of Eritreans all over the world
living in close knit groups.
4. Your earnest prayers and financial support are needed to help this ministry accomplish all
the things that God wants. Your donations will be used according to the need.
5. Currently, Hope 1844 Ministry is preparing to do evangelism work. Your support is
greatly needed and greatly appreciated in this critical movement.
What can Hope 1844 Ministry do in your area?
1. Educate and train church members on true medical missionary work in connection with
the third angel's message.
2. Present life testimony of Medical Evangelist Bemnet Meried and encourage young
people to develop prevailing prayer. "Daily prayers for light and guidance will surely be
answered." {RH, May 12, 1904 par. 1}
3. Knowing the greatest need of true revival and reformation in our church, Hope 1844
Ministry presents a theoretical and practical understanding of Daniel and the Revelation
and why a "correct understanding" of this book is so vitally important to our church.
Finally, it is my earnest prayer that God will use me in giving the last message of mercy, in
connection with the true medical missionary work, to His people in all the world and especially
to Eritrea. Please pray for the people of Eritrea, and other countries in need, that God may raise
up servants to finish His work.
Remember, anything given cheerfully and prayerfully will help in bringing life to souls.
2 Corinthians 9:7: "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not
grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." Amen.
Acts 20:35: "...remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, It is more blessed to give
than to receive." Amen.
Maranatha,
Medical Evangelist Bemnet B Meried.
