Kindergarten Judaic Studies Goals and

Benchmarks AM
- Kriah- Hebrew ReadingGoal: By the end of the year students will blend all letters in the Hebrew Aleph-Bet using the first four vowels
Kammatz, Patach, Tzerei, and Segol. The students will recognize all 12 vowels and gain a strong foundation for
reading in Hebrew.
Method: Multi-sensory techniques in 20 minute centers daily.
Resources: White and Red Aleph Champ, Sefer Aleph Beis, and Oteyot Reading Readiness workbooks.

-Kesiva- Hebrew Writing Goal: The students will be able to write their Jewish names in block letters, we use the childrens names on all
papers.
Method: The students learn to recognize their names from multiple multisensory activities with their Jewish name
printed and shaped. The children will have the opportunity to work with all the letters in block form of the Aleph-Bet.

-Ivrit - Hebrew Language


Goal: This subject is taught by Morah Revi. Morah Revi and I work hard to incorporate Judaic studies topics with
newly learned word groupings and stress the Ivrit words used during different times of the year. All Kindergarten
performances include a performance from Morah Revis Ivrit class.

-Tefillah/ Davening Prayer


Goal: The students will gain fluency and understanding of the basic morning prayers.
Method: The students start their day by singing the morning prayers. Every few weeks we add a new prayer and
discuss the meaning of the newly added tefillah at circle time. As a new prayer is added we complete a page in our
homemade siddur. In the siddur the children will incorporates topics within General studies (i.e. math and sight
words) and Judaic studies (each prayer includes Jewish Torah concepts).

-Parsha- Weekly Torah Portion


Goal:The students will learn the weekly Torah portion and be able to apply the mitzvot and concepts learned to their
daily lives.
Method: Weekly Parsha booklets (includes General studies sight word search and reinforcement), Powerpoint parsha
series, parsha projects, parsha songs, parsha demonstrations, and home reinforcement through parsha questions.

-Yehadut- Jewish laws, holidays, customs and concepts


Goal:The students will learn the Chaggim (Jewish Holidays), our goal is to infuse children with excitement ,warmth
and strong feelings for the importance of the Jewish holidays, Jewish laws, customs and concepts.
Method: Using tools such as media, art, literature, demonstrations, science experiments, and baking, the children will
gain an excitement and warmth for their heritage and way of life.

Goal: The students will be introduced to the five core values of our school, Respect, truth, courtesy, kindness and
gratitude, and the newly introduced Character Counts program. Our goal is to help raise and educate the children to
integrate and apply all learned traits and help them lead a positive way of life.
Method: ALL middot are constantly and continuously reinforced throughout all subjects, projects, and lessons.
