EC Vancouver: English

+ Ranch Stay
This programme is for the cowboy or cowgirl at heart who wants
to learn English while spending some time in Canadian nature
away from urban life.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT ON THIS COURSE?
Ranch stay is for people looking to learn something about the community where
they are placed and farming in general. With demanding, physical labour this
unpaid cultural exchange is not for the faint-hearted! Students need to be
physically fit, hard-working, social and interested in Canadian nature and farming,
as they will be part of the farm family life. Spending most of their time with the
family, far away from the city, students will learn a great deal about Canadian
farming and the farm lifestyle.
Ranchstay gives participants the chance to become involved with family activities.
Candidates can use all facilities of the farm, i.e. riding their horses, driving the
tractor etc. The program is not only about farming; it is a cultural exchange program
where candidates get a real inside of Canadian culture, mentality etc. The family
takes candidates along when they visit neighbors, when they do their grocery
shopping or when they go to events like rodeos, community festivals.
All ranches are located in rural and remote areas of Alberta, British Columbia or
Saskatchewan.
Ranch types include:
Cattle ranch
Horse ranch (riding experience required for all types)
