Discuss the roles of job analysis in any two (2) functions of human resource management

(10 marks).
Job analysis means the process of obtaining information about jobs by determining their
duties,tasks or activities .The first roles of job analysis is training and development.Any
discrepancies between the knowledge ,skills and abilities demonstratedby job holders and the
requirements contained in the description and specification for their jobs provide clues to the
training these job holders need.The information also can serve as a guide to help with the career
development of employees by in indicating the type of training and development they need and
what is required for them to advance to different jobs within organization.

Second roles of job analysis is recruitment and selection.The information provided via job
analysis plays an essential role in the recruiting function.The basic information and
qualifications are contained in job advertisement,whether they are posted on organizational
bulletin boards,Internet sites,the help wanted sections of publications or employment agency
listing.The information provides a basis for attracting qualified applicants and discouraging
unqualified ones.
