BRIAN KEITH SIMS

________________________________________________
SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
As a father of a son who has autism, I have been an advocate for his well-being in school during
his educational experience. I have been on the receiving end of the table during meetings and I vowed
to become an advocate for my students in the classroom. I nurture the whole child in my class and
attend to all of their needs and wants. I care for all of the students in school and especially care for the
students who may not be able to represent themselves. During the last 15 years, I have been in special
education classrooms and have developed programs that students found success. I have developed a
rapport with colleagues in the regular education classroom and with administrators. I believe all
students can learn and will learn when the lesson is presented on their ability.
