prepare and write a research paper.
Materials that may be used:

Anticipatory Set:
To get the students involved I would have them know that majority of their grade is from peer
grading. Showing the students that they have many opportunities on how they would like to put
their project together allows them to make the choice on what they would like to do. Also show
them a video of school house rock.
Procedures:
Monday- (Come up with your time of history you would like to use. Decide how you would like
to present your project. Presentation should last no less than five minutes and no longer than
eight.) Show the class examples of presentations that have been in the past. Explain how Weebly
is used. Explain to them what will be asked of them throughout the week. Rubrics will be given
out to each group to follow.

Tuesday- (Lets begin exploring the internet.) Also break the class up into groups. Have them
discus with each other ideas on what they would like to do. Guide the class on what internet sites
would be beneficial for the project. Show them how they site their recourses using APA format.
Wednesday- (Working with peers to come up with some ideas on your presentation) Help the
class when needed while they are working on their projects. Reminding the class this time is only
to do research. Each students for homework will work on the writing portion of the project for
the next two days.
Thursday- (Start putting history together on a presentation. Be creative and make it your own.
This is where you will put your pictures that you have found.) Working on the presentation part
of the project. Start putting everything together.
Friday- ((Graded for initial presentation) Put your final touches on your presentation. Written
part Due.)) Giving each group time to personally ask questions and state any concerns that they
have on their projects.
Monday- (Presentations) Explaining the rubric to the class and have the class grade each others
presentations.
Closure:
The main closure for this project is the presentations for the class to show their efforts on the
assignment. Having the students grade eachother using the rubrics allows the sense of gratitude
in what they do. Also having a class discussion on what they liked and disliked on the project.
Assessment:
There are three parts of how grading is done.
First assessing the presentations from classmates. They will follow the rubric that is given from
the teacher. This will be explain in depth and explained that this will be 25% of their grade.
Second part of their assessment is the grading of the presentation form the teacher. This will be
40% of their grade. Again this will be graded by the rubric for the History Presentation.
The third part of their grade will be the written part that is passed in. This will be graded by the
rubric for the written part. This will be 35% of their grade. The class will be given this rubric the
first day of working on the presentation.
Modifications:
Any child with an IEP or 504 plan accommodations will be made specifically for them. An
example of this would be that the written part would be cut down to their need, as in instead of
15 facts they would do only 7. Having the child understand the concept and making sure they
focus on understanding what they are writing about.
