Formal Game Analysis

1. Objective:
a. What are the game objectives?
Race, Escape, Capture
b. What is the primary object of your game?
Move all of your hunters from your outpost to your tent before opponents
c. What are the secondary objectives of your game?
Escape opponent traps, and outwit players with the best trap configurations

2. Player Interaction:
a. What type of player interaction is your game?
Multilateral

3. Rules & Procedures:
a. What are the starting action procedures of your game?
-Distribute traps to each player of different colors
-Place hunters of matching colors on binocular spots near outpost
-Roll the die, the player with the highest number places traps and moves first
-Place traps starting with the first player in a clockwise order
b. What are the progression of action procedures?
-The first player rolls the die and moves their hunter from the outpost
-Players continue to roll and move their hunters in a clockwise motion
-Players take appropriate actions depending on where they land
c. Are there any special action procedures? What are they and when are they executed?
-land on opponent trap = back to outpost
-land on owned trap = roll again
-land on opponent hunter = opponent hunter back to outpost
-land on another owned hunter = roll again and move both hunters, if not completely blank square
return to outpost
-land on blank = may move trap there
-land on move opponent trap = move any opponents trap
-land on move player trap = move any of your traps
-land on lose a turn = lose next turn
-land on next trap = move hunter to your next trap
-land on opponents to camp = all opponents hunter must return to camp
d. What are the resolving action procedures?
-All hunters must enter every tent after reaching the campsite with an exact roll to win
e. What are the explicit rules?
- 3-4 players must select one color of traps each, while 2 players must select two colors of traps each
-Players may not exchange traps or remove them from play
-Pieces must move in clockwise order unless otherwise stated
-A double roll must be executed by that same hunter
-A player may move a maximum of two hunters onto the board at one time
-A die roll may not be split among multiple hunters
-The player may not roll again after a next trap action
-Tile actions are in addition to player actions
-A hunter is completely safe after entering a tent

4. Game Resources:
a. What are your resources?
-16 hunters (4 different colors)
-1 Game Board with 40 spaces
-12 Traps
b. Does it have utility? Yes the hunters are the pieces moved around the board, the traps are placed
on the board to mark actions, and the game board is necessary to move on
c. Is it scarce? Yes there are a defined number of property markers and property spaces

5. Game Mechanics:
You should be able to justify how you are incorporating at least 3 of the following mechanics:
a. Turn/Move? the roll of a single die
b. Action Points? moving your hunters based on a die roll; jumping and evading enemy traps.
c. Auction or Bidding? N/A
d. Randomness? chances of landing on special tiles greatly influence game play
e. Capture? opponent traps can capture opponent hunters and send them back to their outpost to
restart
f. Catch-Up? Player must roll an exact number to get their hunter into camp
g. Role-Playing? N/A
h. Tile Laying? traps are laid in strategic configurations
i. Victory? first player to move all hunters to camp

6. Conflict:
Conflict? You have to roll the die and hope that you get the number that is needed to get to the
blank or owned square.
Competition? Roll the highest number to help get your pieces to the end the quickest time.
Opponent? They are used to add a sense of purpose for playing the game.
Obstacle? They would be the challenge of rapidly landing on your owned properties and avoiding
opponents pieces.
Dilemma? The dilemma would be the challenge of moving own properties to give you the best
chance to win.

7. Boundaries:
a. What are your game boundaries? the game board and roll of die/dice
b. What separates your game from real life? it is a board game with a fictional/simplified theme

8. Outcome:
a. How is the end/winner determined? First player to move all hunters from outpost to campsite/
tents
b. Zero-Sum or Non-Zero Sum game? Zero Sum

9. Probability: What type of randomization tool will you incorporate into gameplay? (Dice,
Spinners, Cards, Coins, etc.) Die/ Dice
