I received my Bachelor Degree from Arizona State University and teach to the Arizona State Standards, so if you have any questions regarding the content I teach, please feel free to contact me. I am always available for consultation. Please be aware though that I am teaching during the day and will get back to you as soon as possible. I am available by phone between 3:00-5:00 Monday through Friday. All e- mail messages will be responded to within 24 hours. Telephone and in person conferences are always available, please make an appointment with me via phone or e-mail. My goal this year is to work as a team; teacher, school administrators, students and parents to ensure your childs success in class. Your childs success this year is very important to me and I will do everything I can to make sure that their time in my classroom is worthwhile, fun, memorable and filled with learning. The vision I have for my students is that they become excited and interested about history, thrive as learners, realize how important history is to us, make connections to their own lives and become life-long learners. These young minds are the future of our country and it is my responsibility to make sure they are educated about our past and have the necessary knowledge to make good decisions for their future. My philosophy is You dont teach on your seat. In other words, to be an effective teacher I must be up, moving around the classroom. To help students succeed I will become involved in their everyday learning, from bell to bell.
Sincerely, Mrs. Lisa Lewellen U.S History Riverview School Mrs. Lisa Lewellen Phone: 623-523-8950, or e-mail- Lisa.Lewellen@dysart.org
Dear Mr./Mrs. Smith, September 18, 2014
I am writing today to let you know about Erics progress in my class. Eric is a very bright individual and a true joy to have in my class. He regularly shares ideas, engages in class discussions and is very prompt in getting homework turned in on time. Although Eric is normally quite cooperative, last week he started disturbing his classmates with jokes and comments during quite, work time to avoid concentrating on his own studies. He is aware of my classroom policies and procedures along with the consequences for not adhering to them. I have spoken with him on a few separate occasions so far and he seems to genuinely care about improving. Today I moved his assigned seat to the front of the classroom where its my hope that he improves now that he is not sitting next to his best friends. My policy in class is that if I have to move a student because of misbehavior I send a letter home informing the parents of the issue. Its my hope that by informing you and moving his seat to the front of the class that his behavior improves. I also hope that you could talk to Eric about his behavior in class. I truly want Eric to take his studies seriously and not hinder the learning of those around him. He has so much potential and I truly want him to succeed. I am confident that together we can get him to concentrate once again. Please, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call or e-mail me. My contact information is at the top.
Sincerely, Lisa Lewellen

Dear Principal Willingham, My name is Lisa Lewellen and I am a recent graduate of Arizona State University. I received my Bachelor Degree in the spring of 2015, with a major in education and a minor in history. Children and education are my passion and it is my goal to ensure our young people are productive, engaged and responsible members of society. Many students find history boring or irrelevant and I am hoping to change their views. I am dedicated to those I teach and have a passion and excitement about history that is very contagious. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to create a classroom environment that will guide my students to learn. I hold myself accountable for their education in my classroom and as such, my lesson plans are strategically planned and productive as well as engaging and exciting, which will get the students involved and participating every day. I am also a firm believer in the fact that the education of our young people is a team effort between teachers, students, parents and administration. Establishing a working relationship with parents at the beginning of the school year is essential for a students success. It is my hope that by the end of the term my students will leave my classroom better educated about the events of our great nation than they were when they arrived and excited to learn more.
