But before I give my
reasons why let me tell you about her. She was a very powerful ruler in Russia. She wanted Russia to be in her hands. Many people liked what she did to Russia but many people didnt. Catherine II was an enlightened ruler. She was ambitious and very intelligent, she know what she wanted for Russia. Also she thought if she got rid of Peter she would become a background figure. She had ambitious plans regarding domestic and foreign affairs. She changed Russia in so many ways.
I believe she was a great ruler because she helped Russia in so many ways. She had ambition and was very intelligent. Catherine was socially enlightened ruler. All her achievements lasted 34 years. She was the longest ruling female Russian leader, also she extended the borders of Russia. She strongly supported westernization and modernization. To make it better she expanded the Russian empire, imported her literature and art from Western Europe Nations. Before she died she left Russia much stronger, she made it better than the way she found it. She was unwilling to you terror or force against society. She also considered herself enlightened, corresponded with men. Wished to be a Defender of oppressed innocence, to spread education and to reform Russia. She built marvelous monuments across Russia. Turned St. Petersburg into a truly European city. She wanted to spread education so her people can be well educated. She improved social conditions. Religion took a big part in Catherine life religion helped her rule Russia and made it easier too. She wanted people in her country to live in peace, she made sure that they were protected, she made life easier for the people. And made Russia even stronger.
In conclusion, Catherine was one of the best rulers in Russia, she helped Russia in so many ways, the people were appreciated by her and they appreciated her. She wanted her people to be protected and well educated. Catherine solved Russias problems helped them in war and gave people a chance. She was fond of the philosophers and writers of the enlightenment. Catherine is often better remembered for her romantic liaisons than her many accomplishments. Historians have also criticized her for not improving the lives of serfs, who were the majority of the Russian population. Catherine made some good contributions to Russia, bringing forth educational reforms and championing the arts. As leader, Catherine also extended the country's borders through military might and diplomatic prowess. Catherine also wrote fictions, comedies and memoirs while cultivating the talents of French intellectuals including Diderot, D'Alembart and Voltaire, with whom she corresponded for over 15 years.She became the most-renowned and longest- serving female monarchs of Russia, with her reign seen by many as the Golden Age of Russia.Catherine died in 1796 from a stroke which caused her to fall into a coma, from which she never recovered. She was buried in a gold coffin at the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St Petersburg.
