Russian Ethnic Group Mini-Project
PREZI
Activity:
Students [working individually or in pairs] will be assigned a specific minority found in the Russian Federation
today. Using knowledge learned today [objectives 1-2], students will create a Prezi [21
st
century skill] which they
will use to explain the subculture to their class members.

Each pair will be assigned one of the following Russian ethnic minority groups to research their treatment by past
and current Russian governments:
[a] Slavs- native Russians, [b] Tatars, [c] Chechens, [d] Uzbeks, [e] Chukchi, [f] Turkmen,
[g] Georgians,

Both members of the pair must create a tab under Unit II: Russia and call it RUSSIAN ETHNIC GROUP. On this
page, they must place a picture which represents their topic, as well as upload their Prezi.

Group members will be given one of the following roles:
Researcher~ Background information. Describe your ethnic groups major beliefs (religion, occupation,
social standing, etc.)

Journalist~ Dig up the role your Ethnic group plays in Russian society. How does your group view being
part of Russia? How does your group feel about its treatment in society today and in the past?

[Shared role]:
Photographer~ One of the pair will find at least eight pictures of their assigned ethnic group, recent
pictures and past. The other student in the pair will find a movie clip that relates to a viewpoint of, or
about their assigned group. Write a summary regarding how the video relative to present-day Russia.

Each pair will be responsible for creating a Prezi which creatively presents their research. [Task and rublic
attached]

explanation of the video
