The student group submitted their first progress report on developing a digital communication receiver. They discussed which microcontroller platform to use between Arduino and PIC, with each student assigned to research the options. They also planned to meet with the transmitter group to determine what type of data would be transmitted so the receiver could process it appropriately. At their first meeting, the group discussed whether to use Arduino or PIC based on cost and ease of programming, compared the programming languages for each, and considered whether the transmitter would send analog or digital information.

Narration of the Progress The group made the brainstorming about what platform is going to be used. Neither Arduino nor PIC can be the microcontroller of the receiver and were still looking for the best option to be selected. The team leader assigned each of us to gather more information about the two microcontrollers so that the group will expend the minimum cost for the prototype and enhance our programming skills with ease. We also discussed about setting a meeting to the transmitter group to know what data they will transmit for us to receive and to process.

Meeting No. 1 RECEIVER
Date and Time: July 3, 2014; 1:15-1:35 PM Place: Instrumentation and Control Laboratory Moderator: Umali, Kent Jerome R. Attendees: Hosme, Venus Mendoza, Rowell R. Miranda, Reynald
Agenda: 1. To decide whether Arduino or PIC should we use and to give attention on the approximate expenditure
2. To differentiate the programming language between the two microcontrollers
3. To discuss about the modulating information to transmit: Analog or Digital
