FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH OF WILMINGTON

CLASS ONE

We gather this moment as people of faith
With joys and sorrows, gifts and needs.
We light this beacon of hope,
Sign of our quest
For truth and meaning,
In celebration of the life we share
together.

Be ours a religion which, like
sunshine, goes everywhere;
Its temple, all space,
Its shrine, the good heart,
Its creed, all truth;
Its ritual, works of love;
Its profession of faith,
divine living.

FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH OF WILMINGTON
CLASS TWO
We have a great deal more kindness
than is ever spoken.
The whole human family is bathed with
an element of love like ether.
How many persons we meet, whom we
scarcely speak to, yet whom we honor
and who honor us!
How many we see in the street or sit
with in church, whom though silently,
we warmly rejoice to be with! RWE

Unitarian
Universalism?
Unitarian Universalism is a faith that lifts
my heart with love and feeds my mind
with questions and answers and
questions.
Maggie Duffy, Board President 2011
Unitarian Universalism gives a voice to a
philosophy rooted in love.
Dale Stratton, Board President 2006
Reinforcement for our own beliefs and
support for the religious experience of
our children.
Glen Barbaras
Board President, 1972
Is there anything that youre still wondering
about?
Has anything surprised you?
Questions you might have right now
Next class well be talking about
membership & about joining the church

Because of those who came before, we are;

In spite of their failings, we believe;
Because of, and in spite of the horizons of their
vision, we, too, dream.
Let us go remembering to praise, to live in the
moment, to love mightily,
And to bow to the mystery.
by UU minister Barbara Pescan, #680
FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH OF WILMINGTON
CLASS THREE
We arrive out of many singular rooms,
wandering over the branching streets.
We come to be assured that brothers
and sisters surround us, to restore their
images on our eyes. We enlarge our
voices in common singing.
Our eyes reclaim the remembered
faces; the warmth of their hands
assures us.
This is the reason of cities, of homes, of
assemblies in houses of worship.
It is good to be with one another.
by Kenneth Patton, #443
How are things with your
spirit today?
Is there anything that you
had to leave behind in
order to be more fully
present here today?
Love is the spirit of this church and service its prayer.
This is our great covenant: to dwell together in peace, to
seek the truth in love, and to help one another.
(common adaptation from a reading by James Vila Blake)
When have you found love in a
community or church of which
you were a part?
Where do you hope to find it here?
