Design Process. In this project you will be focussing on the following aspects:
Developing a product for an identified need
Design Brief
Mood Board - Target User
Planning your research
Developing design Proposals
Presenting your work including:
o Isometric
o Rendering
o Annotation
o Fine Liner
Quality Assurance
Recording Making
High Level of Demand
Testing and Evaluating
You will also be looking at different plastics and their moulding techniques.

Clear and specific design criteria identified, fully reflecting the research and
analysis, ACCESSFM highly detailed with explanations to support.
Design Criteria reflects analysis with ACCESSFM used well
Design Criteria reflects most of the analysis (Basic ACCESSFM)
Design Criteria is too general and lacks any real detail

Final outcome shows a high level of making and finishing with accuracy.
Appropriate tools and materials used skilfully and safely. Worked
independently to produce a demanding outcome Quality controls are evident
throughout the project and it is clear how accuracy has been achieved.
Final outcome shows very good level of making and finishing skills.
Appropriate tools, materials selected and used correctly and safely. Outcome
demonstrates a high level of demand. Quality control checks applied in the
manufacture of the product.

Final outcome shows good level of making and finishing skills. Used
appropriate materials, components, equipment and processes correctly and
safely Parts of outcome show high levels of demand. Applied quality control
checks broadly but superficially.
Final outcome is largely complete and represents a basic level of making and
finishing skills. Used materials, components and equipment correctly and
safely. Some aspects of outcome are demanding. Some evidence of limited
quality control applied throughout the process

Context
Home renovation shows are very popular nowadays and many people are personalising their
living space. This has developed in to bedrooms also as well as childrens bedrooms. If you want
you can buy many colourful items for a childs bedroom from coloured wardrobe doors to funky
beds however a lot of products are branded by either Disney or similar franchises. There are
however limited designs for light switches and most parents use either a plain coloured one or the
standard white one. Your task is to develop a design for a light switch that could be sold in IKEA
which does not depend upon a brand or character that already exists. It must be for a child of
between 3 and 7 years old.

Explain the quality assurance that you will do on the making of your product?
How will you check the following?

Record your making here: Take photos of the key steps in your making and comment on any
problems you came across and how you overcame them.
Method
I will ask 10 parents of the
target user group for their
comments.
