White adipose tissue (loose ct): stores energy in the form of lipids (adipocytes),
provides cushion and insulation to the body, and produces a number of hormones.

Brown Adipose tissue. 40x Brightfield 35.9ms Leica
Brown adipose is found in neonatal humans and in animals that
hibernate. Fat droplets are smaller compared to those in white
adipose tissue and have numerous mitochondria. In hibernating
animals, the uncoupling of oxidation from phosphorylation
realeases heat rather than producing HTP.

OSSIFICATION
FUNCTION: Endochondral ossification is one of the two essential processes during fetal
development by which bone tissue is created. Cartilage is present during endochondral
ossification. Essential process during rudimentary formation of long bones, the growth of the length
of long bones, and the natural healing of bone fractures.

Dense irregular tissues have fibroblasts and
matrix fibers (mostly collagen) that are oriented
differently, e.g. not oriented in a parallel fashion.
This tissue is present in the skin.
